Well I haven't posted anything in a while so I thought you guys might enjoy a little update / something new to look at and read.

I sold the black '72 Satellite Sebring Plus / Roadrunner Clone car about a month or so ago.

I got just over $21,000 for it so what the hell, right? It was a fun quick build and I made a good profit off of it. I hated to sell it to be honest but I want to keep building and saving cars so the money will go towards those ends. The new owner is supposedly doing a few mods to it and then shipping it to Europe to resell. It will be missed.

I really want to build one of these cars to keep for myself so as soon as that car sold I began searching again. Last week I ran across another 72 Satellite Sebring Plus over in Texarkana, TX. We shot out there last weekend, showed up early for the appointment, and scooped it up quick before the other people who were coming to look at it had a chance to buy it. One other guy showed up there before we even had a chance to load it and I was offered more than I paid for it but I had to pass. I just got it unloaded this afternoon. It's now in the garage and I'm chomping at the bit to get started on it...

I took these pics of it where it had been stored all these years.

It's REAL solid. The only rust is 2 small areas that need patching in front of rear wheels and there's a few very small areas that need patching around the upper quarter on the driver's side because of the vinyl roof, but that's it. I have a 72 Sebring parts car to use for the patches so that's a cinch. The underside of the car looks amazing, not one spec of rust. It was last on the road in '97 and the car has been in dry storage for many years. It has 80K miles and every part is there. The only things not stock is the Holley 4 bar and an aluminum Edelbrock intake.

I washed it off and some of the paint even shines still. The interior is solid. The dash isn't even cracked. There's a lot of cleaning to do and some upholstery work. The front fender has a whiskey dent but other than that the car is straight as an arrow.

All that being said there is a lot of work to do. I am still trying to figure out what my end goal with this one should be... Restoration or modification.

It has a lot of cool options and I love the console and the deluxe black/white interior combo. I really want this car to be the one I end up keeping. It was built at the same plant my black one was, but this one was built 5 days earlier than that car. The build date on this car is my father's birthday, he turned 19 that day. Pretty cool.

My wife has gotten into the Mopar craze as well as of late. We got her a '73 Cuda to play with. She really wants a 71 but this will have to hold her over for awhile. I'm currently doing a few things to it to make it a bit better looking (black grill and swapping out '73 bumpers and supports for new '70-'71 bumpers and brackets, to move the bumpers in closer to the body and losing the bumperettes). Here's a shot of it next to the black car right before it shipped off.

So that's about it. I hope you enjoyed. I will update you guys soon.

I too, have a Plymouth addiction. Besides my 66 & 67 Belvederes, I just picked up this 46 P-15. It's running a 74 360/727, Disc brakes, cruise control, power seats. Kind of old skool coolSDC11521.jpgSDC11525.jpgSDC11524.jpg

I just wanted to see what it would look like if I buffed the paint with some rubbing compound and these are the results...

I believe most the paint can come back to life as good or possible even better than this area did. It almost makes me want to fix it up as a survivor. Just clean her up real good. I dunno. I am going to keep going in this direction and see where it ends up.

Cool!! Glad to see the price you got for the black one. I also am working on my #'s matching big block plus. never seem to have time to work on it. When I finish it i am going to drive the hell out of it and NOT sell it. I plan on making it like this.

1972 SSP was my first car back in 77. I bought it with 21,000 miles from original owner.
Owned that car 5 times in my life. Tried for 6 times but present owner won't sell. Sooooo I did the next best thing 2 weeks ago and bought a near twin in excellent shape.
It's presently getting it's first paint work in 42 years and then when I get it I'll put on a new top and interior. My first was a 400 4speed but this is a 400 auto with A/C.

Awesome find. Hopefully, one day I'll be able to find another '71-72 SSP to park next to my '74. I love the lines on the '71-72's. Good luck with the build. Sounds like you've got some tough decisions to make.

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement.

I know a bit about painting because I always paint my own cars but I have to say that I find it just amazing that this original paint can come back like this. My neighbors who helped me push it off the trailer and into the garage were blown away by the difference a couple days and some elbow grease made. I don't have much more buffing to do. The passenger side is done as well as the trunk lid. A shame that vinyl top is so bad, otherwise it would already be a pretty damn good looking driver.

I'm waiting on parts to arrive so I can do a proper tune up. Flush all the fluids. Everything that needs to be done to go ahead and start it up. I'll drop the tank and clean it as well as blow out the fuel lines and put some fresh gas in her. As soon I get it all tuned up and running right, I will go ahead and get some tires for it and do a brake job. Then I will get it out and see if she'll drive down the street a bit.

I just hate working on a nasty car so, for now, more cleaning and buffing is in order.

Paint looks good! too bad you sold the black car it looked bad ***!

awesome More pics, just some buffing did all that? that is awesome

Green72Runner - Yup. Just some rubbing compound and my big buffer with a wool pad. It's one heck of a transformation.

Almost all the paint came back very nicely. The only major issue is that the driver's door must have been replaced early in the car's life. I can see some B5 blue. The red paint they used on the door is not nearly as good of quality as the original paint and it's flaking off. But other than that, the car is looking pretty shiney. Sure it has those 2 whiskey dent areas but they aren't bad - Those panels can be saved and straightened. I have a nice replacement piece of trim for the pass fender taken off my Sebring parts car, so now this one has all the SSP body moldings.

I spent a lot of time cleaning the interior today. Pulled the back seat and found a tattered build sheet. Here's some shots of the de-funked the interior. It's hard to take very good pictures in the garage.

Still have to clean out the trunk, which won't take long. It's nice in there. No rust. Still has the original trunk mat, a matching "road wheel" spare, and the original jack and lug wrench.

Then I will start cleaning under the hood. It's dirty under there but oh so nice.

By the time the parts get here, I should have the car pretty clean which just makes life easier and less frustrating when doing work.

I would like to go ahead tomorrow and get some new tires for it. Nothing crazy. Just some stock looking white walls :)
