The survivor car debate

Just a thought, the rust encapsulator I use called Chassis Saver is available in a clear finish and can be brushed or sprayed on. If it were me, I'd just brush very selectively the rusty patches on the quarter and possibly try and spray some into the hole in the inside of the trunk extension (sealing the backside of the quarter). That way you can keep it just how it is and know it won't get any worse. Just an idea :shruggy:

And that's one badass 'bee! Very cool to see it in such great original condition
:eek:ccasion14:

I'll give that a shot sir, and thanks for the props. The car and his brother, the 67' have been family member for a while now and we want them to be with us for a long time to come.

Yeah definitely check it out, I can't recommend that stuff highly enough. Used the black finish on the surface rusted hubs of my brake rotors and haven't seen a speck of rust on them since. That's good to hear and that they're driven and enjoyed regularly, both gorgeous cars :icon_thumleft:

Looks fine to me.
I vote to leave it alone.
It's only orginal once.
And to kill a Mockingbird is a sin.
Well, something like that.

....plus the Mockingbird is the State bird of Texas.

Great cars Durandal !! I'd leave it alone outside of the rust then fix it and match the paint

.....the good news is the rust is really fairly minor, and one day I will take a bite out of that dog, but for now it's in a stable condition and has not gotten wet once in the last several years.

I love the car, as said I too would stop the rust and leave it alone.

So...I'll give the 67 some love...318 car? What else?

It seems to have grown a pie pan.

I'm a big 66/67 fan.
That's where the 68-70 came from.
Aside from big tires, they can be "mechanically" the same car.

Fix it, then paint it........it's only going to get worse if you don't.......who knows what else "lurks" beneath the paint........

Sonnys car has a few pimples But a pretty girl can have a few...

......I like he pie pan, it makes the beast go faster. All kidding aside, I was going to pull it. The car even has the original spare.

YY1 likes Sonny's statement about pimples.

I actually used that logic in school.
Zits or braces on an otherwise hot chick actually made me feel I had a chance.

......I went for the "I'll do you homework" route. .....of course, most of the chicks that were super-hot them look like Marmaduke now, lol.

This car is so rare. I have my original spare too.....

I have a few cars and really enjoy my survivor. It's only original once but if I was having rust and bubble issues I would address them. You don't want your car rusting away....22K mile surivior
