My 340 came with a new Eddy 600 carb but I find it pretty flat performance wise.
The car also came with a clean looking 800 TQ. I fitted it and cranked and cranked but no fire up. I manually operated the throttle lever and could not see any gas squirting. Any ideas? I'd like to try the TQ before spending on a replacement for the Eddy.

I should add that if leave the car a week it does take a few minutes to fire up even with the new carb. However, the day I fitted the TQ the car had been running and also fired up the minute I removed the TQ and put the Eddy back on.

No squirting gas indicates either a bad accelerator pump or no fuel in the float bowl.

It sounds like the carb has been sitting a while so I would recommend at least removing the top and performing an inspection of the float area for any kind of blockage or sticking float. But if you are going that far you might as well just get a kit and rebuild it.

Ok Jim, will do, thanks. I'm not going to rebuild it but I will have a quick once over to see if its something obvious like you suggest.
