What's it Worth Thinking of selling my dad's Superbird

Between 1978 and 1982 , I looked at several Superbirds that I could have purchased between $1700 and $2400, but as it would have been a third car for our young family, eating and house payments were more important. It was 2000 before I could actually afford to buy a costly project such as a Superbird. I still got a bargain. Mine was purchased for a dollar and a new Dodge truck. I'm the second owner.
Sounds like that was a great trade. That truck would certainly not be worth what that Superbird is worth. Just thing of the enjoyment and showing off you've been having for the last 25 years.

If not so unsure what's it worth, why don't you get a appraisal done by a professional since it's worth some good coin, money well spent.

Appraisal will be good for nothing... other than if there are other family members expecting a cut. Every privately sold Bird in 2025 has gone for more than Hagarty's valuation..

FYI, 1970 cars came with a cast iron intake manifold. The aluminum manifold was on the A12 cars. That's not a deal breaker, but you've got to find the build sheet.

The horn is painted orange also. It's just more proof that he car needs and deserves a proper restoration.
I don't know, that part of the car's history now. I like that kinda stuff. Theres a story behind who did it and when.

A good appraiser is a 100% neutral party. But that means they aren’t actively participating in the market. They look at comps.

The people that are best at predicting sales values are people that buy at sell these cars. 0% neutral party

It’s a catch22.

If you are active in the hobby, you can look at comps, better decipher what’s real and fake sales, collect better info from groups at a large cross section.

Almost forgot hype the car with a story. Make it about your dad. A Cuda or a Challenger called I think Grey Ghost was hyped as a street racer who was a cop. He come out to race an then disappear for a while. You have to make it crazy.

may not ever be able to work on cars again and am coming to the realization that I need to get rid of some of them...

Maybe sell the other cars first while you sort out the best time and way to sell the SB.
