Went in to donate some of the wife's old clothes-

Walked out with this piece of audio history.

I need more vintage audio equipment like I need another project car (or a hole in the head).

$30. Wood is nearly perfect. one small scratch.

All the lights work. Tuner is awesome. Amp sounds more powerful than 45w RMS.
(but that's real wattage).

Only done a small amount of research, but appears to be 1972-74 run and last "mid line" receiver with real wood.

Is "4 channel ready". Has three sets of speaker connections and rotary combo power/speaker selector Off/A/speaker off/B/C/A+B/A+C- that's a hell of a stacked rotary switch.

Has separate bass/treble for left and right channel. High filter low filter FM mute that really works.

Two phono inputs, two tape monitors, plus aux in. Divorceabe tuner and amp sections.

...but i"m gushing.

That is AWESOME... Got one in my Garage...

I bought one of those brand new in 73 when I was in Europe. Great piece, I used it into the 90's when....I do not recall what happened to it????????????

Yup
Great find YY1
Cool
I too am into the monster AMPS
I have a Big Sansui
Also a Marantz

nice receiver, I still have mine from 1972. I still prefur the old stuff.

I dig those old stereos that had that A, B, both or off switch

I threw mine away about 10 years ago when I moved to Sonora...

maybe I should have kept it, used it in the garage for FM radio

LOL....NOT !!!

mine had dual cassette dubbing or copying & microphone too,
had it for 30+ years

Nice!!! I still have my tube Kenwood from 71-ish. It's 250 per side, and has Kenwood model 888X speakers. It still shakes buildings. LOL
Got it from an old fellow Chrysler employee/buddy. I bought his entire system in 76. He bought it on the PX in Germany.

Has 1/4 inch mic input on font and XLR in back.

No station drift at all. Outstanding for an analog tuner.

I'm pretty stoked.

Wife even expressed interest and excitement.

Enjoyed showing her the sensual heavy flywheel and precision bearing tuning motion...

I don't usually go to garage/yard sales, but a couple of years ago I drove by one and had a few minutes to spare. It looked like he might of had tools and car stuff so I stopped to have a look. He had a Technics SA-500 receiver and a couple of Bose 501 speakers sitting outside and they looked pretty good so I asked him what he wanted for the receiver. He said the receiver was noisy and he just wanted to get rid of it and I could have it for $10. I said sure and he said you can have the speakers too. I brought them home and cleaned the volume pot on the receiver with some contact cleaner and it's worked perfectly ever since. I had to re-foam the speakers but they work great too. Everybody that comes in the shop mentions how good the stereo sounds. I love the old stereos. I just think they sound cool.

Great score. Sonically, old Pioneer and Marantz stuff is far superior to all but the premium modern equipment. The 60's pioneer equipment is hard to beat. I don't have any vintage equipment, but I do have Marantz, Harmon Kardon, Denon and high end Yamaha equipment in various rooms of the house lol. Can't be too far from my pure stereophonic sound.

Nice find, I'll bet you'll see the same thing for sale on the usual places for a lot more than you got it for. I remember my first good receiver, a Sansui 9090 back in 1976. It cost me $650 when I was making about $5.80 an hour.

Man,That's a nice deal. I saw a SX 780 for sale down in Melbourne for 150.00 someone got it already. There's a SX 1980 for 5000.00 in Jax ha ha. I've been looking for one they are amazing sounding compared to the garbage today.

Very nice , the old stuff sounds great...I have a 73 tandburg....they were a small company out of Sweden (i think) and they were going after marantz, I have it hooked to a pair of early 80s G4 Klipsch ...sounds very good ...

hey, i have one of those in my garage !

...are you sure your wife didn't donate it ???

Better check.
