before you decide to pass,
i would agree with the suggestion to at least first go ask a Statie.
to run the Vin.
on an old car deal like this they will usually help you,not hinder you.

Then go to Dmv,with whatever you got from the staties,
see if they can id the last time it was reggied.
if it was long enough ago,youll be golden and need a bill of sale.
if it was recent,youll have to do some legwork or pass on the car.

i also agree with going to a dmv with clerks you know or is a fairly competent one.
if the wrong clerk gets ahold of it,it could be a giant ball of poo.

all this being said,is the body solid??

I'm not really sure what that photo is. Could it be a buffing pad for the blades? It hard to tell from the picture but I think its relevant because you were talking about polishing blades at one point.

In my case the car was disassembled and by the time it made it to my house the dash was missing. Called the seller only to find he had a stroke, by the time he recovered his brother had cleared out his garage (lost his business do to hospitalization) meaning no more dash. Strange things happen but if the VIN has been removed from the dash then yes someone is up to no good.

I wouldn't care if somebody else was using the vin. I'll get a new one if it gets me a good deal on a nice car. I would do my homework to make sure the car wasn't stolen. And make sure I couldn't get arrested or have the car taken away. If the powers that be give me the ok, then the vin issue is just a negotiating tool.

I took the fabrege' egg out of its glass display and replaced it with 'the kid'
cafiene & calcium......i might just send it to Hollery. im a gangster.....i am an outlaw.......lucifer himself couldn't 'deal'.........i haven't teared up yet. I may be a loudmouthed pea shooter.......but i have Heart .....& my work aint bad either, which at end of day, Effort to result is All i care about .......and Mangustas.

I'd check the numbers like others have said, rad & trunk are
engine & trans if it still has them too,
been too long to remember the org. post with all the damn drama

I'd have them traced, you can get the rest of the #'s
DMV can do it, like $10, I use AAA too, but you have to be a member,
also check by what options it has/had & body style etc.
the other will fill in in, unless it's on another re-bodied car
or on someone's shelf as a memento

IMO If it's not an extremely great deal & strait body,
has a ton of parts, especially interior & grill etc.,
I'd also say just pass...
Find something else with less hassles in the long run...

IMO & experiences you'll spend far more time than you really need to,
chasing down parts, order stuff, spending money needlessly,
just to save a few bucks {hundreds or a thousand or more} ,
spend that time looking for a more complete & documented car,
with a title, or at-least know history, you'll be much better off...

I know it's not popular but you can't always save them all...

I dont grow. Just smoke the **** out of it........havent used brass since 70's.....make my own glass filler, (see filler secrets 101)bondoe is crap.

All 318 cars...69 Charger, a 69 Coro 500, & 68 post/bench Coro 440(favorite & pictured) The Goose was mine also. My stuff is all over this forum, just search my threads.

looking at a roadrunner and it doesn't have a vin plate but the numbers are stamped on the trunk lip n rad support is there anyway It could be titled or have another vin made ?

{I'm not a big #'s guy, we have a few here that really are thou, I have to research all my own too, year/make specific Factory service manuals & decoding programs help, also try MyMopar.com & AllPar.com possibly too}
& work your way thru it, if it's a car you really think you need/want...

IMO don't do "anything financially, no deposit etc."
tell you can confirm ownership or a clear title or
out of the system altogether
take my word for it it's a big hassle, if you can't...

On the topic of "Title" ---I did some question asking about getting a title and reg. for my motorcycle project (in my state) and found the hoops to jump through to be rather easy. (through DMV in my state).

It could very well be that something --completely-- custom has an easier time of passing muster.

This title depends on the state and everyone is different, as another stated if you cannot do a bonded title than maybe try as a hotrod....it also depends on the cost to do this approach...

Sober for going on 24 yrs now....july 14......if i hadnt stopped, i sure wouldnt be pecking this out. Ive run a gauntlet with substance in my life.....alchohol is ONLY Drug that dispalced my identity. In order to properly judge, one must walk the mile.......weed is not a drug where im concerned......never did stupid **** because i was smoking it. My IQ is still well above average. Unless i was drinking, which i do not, & i take my sobriety the most serious of anything in my life. I found my way through the maze, put all the other crap to bed.....but a lb of KGB is going in the oven with me.....last word.
