Finished up 470 stroker and 5-speed TKX install in my 69 road runner. Got about 150 miles on it in the past two weekends, had several small issues to deal with (pinion angle adjustment, blown rear wheel brake cylinder, some minor wire discrepancies, etc). Transmission is everything Silver Sport said it would be, this stroker with 560hp and 644ft pounds of torque is awesome, more than I was expecting, can’t wait until break-in is complete. I ended up taking the plunge and installed full TTI exhaust and I must say couldn’t be happier with fitment and performance. Anyone with questions on the TKX swap in a b body let me know. I work out of a one car garage and mostly on my back in the driveway. There’s a few small things I went through that’s not explained well in all the videos I watched or in trans install instructions. All in all it went great!

P.S I eliminated bulkhead connector, had to build three separate wire harness for fwd engine harness, fwd light harness and I moved all the ignition components under dash, but that’s a whole new thread…..lol

Are you coming from an automatic or already had a 4 speed? I have mine about half way converted to a manual; pedals hung, steering column swapped, cheap Hurst auto shifter in the floor and with my current plans to go back to original auto on the column it may be less work to go with the TKX like yours. Looks awesome, thanks for sharing!

Really nice install! I'm just finishing an Auto to TKX instead on my '71 Coronet, how much reshaping of the transmission tunnel did you end up needing to do?

Nice. Break in is over rated. Just take it easy bit more. I remember when Keisler recommended a break in - in city driving - where I would be 80 yo when done. IF I lived that long. I like my SST too, and the clutch is what it always should have been.

Coming from column shift automatic, modified my steering column to look like floor shift column. Just messed around with aluminum welding rod and body worked it, pretty easyIMG_2512.jpeg

Non at all, but I did have to cut off an unused shifter mount stud used for a Ford setup so no harm there, it was hitting cross member and not allowing me to shim transmission up 3/8” to get the right pinion angle

Yes hydraulic clutch is awesome! And no shifter linkage to deal with, close ratio and tight shifter pattern is great
