Hopped in the road runner yesterday morning early and took it out for a drive. Lot's of open roads around here to enjoy the simple pleasure of driving a classic 4 speed muscle car. For that short time it felt like I was 20 years old again. Nothing else feels like that :)

I've got a 6sp diesel been driving since new 2003 and before that a 4 sp pickup. But, I Love the feeling of having my bench seat automatic w my girl sitting right up next to me and my arm around her shoulder. That makes me feel 20 again. Love your car!!

SWEET RIDE you have there and yes I agree nothing like banging threw the gears.

I have been working on my car most of the summer, engine, transmission and now changing the rear end. From time to time my widowed neighbor will bring a chair out and chat with me while I am working. There are times when I look at her and she has a smile on her face and I ask what is so funny. She tells me that she has never seen anyone have a physical connection with a material thing. I started to disagree with her until I considered what part the car has played in my life, keeping me busy and taking my mind off life’s problems. It was at that point where I had to agree with what she had said and realized that the cars we build are given life by us. They end up will a personality that we share with them, a little bit of us. Some of are cars are like a woman who wears a gaudy bright colored dress and bad make up while others are dressed as classy ladies which while noticed don’t often raise an eyebrow.
It’s those ladies which we fall in love with, we will spend hours upon hours cleaning and polishing, checking every inch to make sure no blemishes have appeared to make our ladies less attractive. We spend thousands of dollars on them even though our original thought were to just clean them up. In the end they share their timelessness with us and we find ourselves feeling enamored with our cars, looking forward to spending time with them seems to turn the clock back where we find ourselves remembering earlier times if we had lived during those times or if lucky enough to live in a period that we physically couldn’t have enjoyed due to our ages. Either way we are caretakers of our cars and our efforts and funds allow us to pass on our passion to keep this worthwhile endeavor alive.
Thanks for allowing me to share this.

Don. Your car is a clone of mine. Except mine is a hardtop. Nothing beats an early morning cruise.

I took my Charger out on Friday for a spin. As I was driving along a white pickup pulled alongside with the driver leaning out the window taking pictures with his phone. He was not paying any attention to traffic around him. After a few minutes of this he slowed down and turned off of the street I was on. Amazing how some folks react to a muscle car!

rlahaie, love your car! Classic colors, orange with black really pops! Mesa eh? I grew up in Phx, went to Alhambra HS. Used to cruise Central back in the late 60's and early 70's. Bought a brand new road runner at that time. Lots of great memories of my old stomping grounds.
