Tools from the past

Working in hvac, occasionally i come across some interesting tools from days gone by. Gas furnaces used to have what was known as, a standing pilot, or pilot light. This was a small flame, which burned continuously, used to ignite the burners. Occasionally the pilot would go out, and have to be relit. This tool is a match holder. It came factory, with a furnace i changed out. You would light a match, put it in the holder, and use it to reach & relight the pilot.

Some of us still have standing pilots and still use match holders to light them.

Also when you get that pesky hard to light pilot, just grab your gasoline torch.

Looks like a corn cob for a handle on the soldering iron. Them cobs have a hundred and one uses!

I found a Craftsman belt drive grinding wheel in my dumpster last weekend.

...and 2 months ago a 1927-1947 Singer.

probably closer to the '47 date because of the light.

So cool. My neighbor still has some full cardboard cans.

I have cases of cardboard cans from my father-in-law (A Mopar guy), goes back at least 25 years.

Those cardboard cans were a PIA. How many times did you jam the funnel in only to have the can collapse? A regular can opener and funnel worked better.

I didn't know there was such a tool...I used tin snips to trim mine down.
