Working in hvac, occasionally i come across some interesting tools from days gone by. Gas furnaces used to have what was known as, a standing pilot, or pilot light. This was a small flame, which burned continuously, used to ignite the burners. Occasionally the pilot would go out, and have to be relit. This tool is a match holder. It came factory, with a furnace i changed out. You would light a match, put it in the holder, and use it to reach & relight the pilot.

I found a Craftsman belt drive grinding wheel in my dumpster last weekend.

...and 2 months ago a 1927-1947 Singer.

probably closer to the '47 date because of the light.

Those cardboard cans were a PIA. How many times did you jam the funnel in only to have the can collapse? A regular can opener and funnel worked better.
