Torque Strap for 1973 charger 400

As rumblefish360 said, a quick and easy way to make a torque strap is to pick-up a few feet of welded chain and a couple of bolts and nuts with thick washers from your local Lowe's or Home Depot. You can use a bolt going into the end of the head or the water pump to attach one end of the chain to the engine. Drill a hole in the outboard end of the K frame where it is thin metal and you can access the bottom. Put a bolt with washer through a link that reaches with a little slack, through the K frame and then use a thick washer, a lock washer and a nut on the bottom. Very effective and won't transmit vibration through to the cabin. Good luck.

Most guys wrapped the chain around the K frame and used a master lock, nut and bolt or something on the car itself to unscrew and put the chain in.

Yes, to lock the chin together when it wraps around the K frame.
Hey! Don't look at me like that! I never did that crazy stuff! Just what I have seen in the past.

One night at the track, a buddy broke his engine mount, so we just used a ratchet strap to hold the engine down. It worked.
