Exactly. The paint color was a code for the size of the bar. On a B body you had orange, green, aluminum and brown paint for the four different bar sizes. One stripe on one side and two on the other.

Hmmm, maybe remember wrong, but I rebuilt the front end on my son's 69 Charger. Pretty sure the dab was green. I've done 4 front ends, the torsion bars always the same...all big block bars. Wonder if that has something to do with it...the size bar?
Another interesting little detail.

Keep in mind I only deal with cars equipped with the HD suspension option....Only the 780/781 bars which only received the brown markings...
