Transmission fluid

I was wondering what kind of transmission fluid I would use in a stock automatic 3 speed in a 65’coronet with a 318 poly. Would I need to use any special kind of trans fluid or would any kind work?

A lot of guys like to use the stuff fer Fords but I like the ATF +4 in my street stuff.

I know a guy that hates ATF. I mean he REALLY hates the feel of it. The slippery yet gritty feel of it just screws with him. I once asked him what he would choose:
1) To be submerged in ATF up to his neck for 10 minutes.
OR...
2) To be boned in the *** by 5 guys.
He had to think about it....THEN he asked if he would be allowed to kill the five men AFTER.
That said a LOT about his hatred for the transmission fluid.

My old 727 has had Dex 3 in it for years , no problems.

My friend who just retired from the transmission business claims ATF+4 is the best for any mopar, old or new.

I've been using Dexron since 1972. Has always worked great! Now it't called Dexron III/Mercon. It also works great to clean grease off your hands! Like really heavy, thick grease. Cuts right thru it! I like it, plus it smells good!

The most recent Car Crap rag has what seems to be a good article on ATF in it. Take into consideration what clutches are in it too. Usually the manufacturer of the clutch parts has their recommendation too....according to the CC article.

Hey, I had an old dude give me a tip on my Russian SKS. Use a little ATF on the piston. I would run hundreds of rounds through it without any jams after doing this!
It's not just for transmissions
