Going Monday to pick up a drivetrain out of a 72 Cordoba.
Motor is completely as it was pulled from the car. Got about a 1 hour and 45 minutes of rough Louisiana roads. Was thinking of build a 2x8 box to let the oil pan slip into and rest on the pan rails. But don't have any dimensions.
Does anyone have that info?
I'm still searching the internet just have not found anything.
Or I'm I over thinking it and should just put it on its side and strap it down.

I’ve done the box thing, works real well. Also gives you a way to store it without sitting it on the pan until you can get it on your engine stand.

Exactly what I was thinking. May have to do the tire thing to get it home then build the box to store it on the floor

Search this category for "engine cart" and see my #4 reply.

PS: add the casters after transport

Build bow leave one end open when you get there set engine in the box and then screw the other end in place then run a torque strap to hold it down. Once in trailer or pick up use torque straps to secure

i use two tires. One underneath the oil pan and one between the cab and the engine. Use ratchet straps to secure against both tires. 14" tires work best.
