Ran across this little project on CL. Dodge D50 big block. Hard work looks to be done, if it was done well... have to look and see.
1979 Dodge D50 Sport
This was a 2.6L 5 Speed truck
Now has a 79 440ci big block with 727 transmission
This is a running, driving unfinished project.
Have most of the receipts from the build.
Still needs to be finished!
$7,500 cash in person. Text or Phone calls only. I will not reply to e-mails
Truck is stored at the shop I work at in Prescott. Can be seen 8-5 Monday - Friday and by appt. on Saturday.

That looks like it would be fun to own.

Looks to me like it's worth going to check it out if you like overkill engines lol. There won't be much traction if any if it's setup with just leaf springs. You live fairly close so go take a look!

If you have the money to back halve the truck, along with coil overs and a 4 link, go for it. Otherwise it's a $7,500.00 burnout contest winner.

The owner said it still has the stock rear with an open diff. No traction. He put a set if drag radials on it which helped a little. The frame has not been modified/strengthen. The front springs are from another vehicle. They hold up the engine but ride stiff. He said it is licensed, has about 450 miles on it with this engine. Sorted out and painted what would this truck be worth?

What COULD possibly go wrong? .. Still has the original rear end? The "engineering" is a bit questionable, IMHO...

Dont think it would worth too much more than what they're asking,...$10k??? would be fun for sure and maybe right at the current price.
If you turned it into a drag car maybe more if it hooked and was in the 10s...
It's like a blown T bucket, pretty useless for the most part and cost more to build than they'll ever be worth.

Interesting.

if you had the fab skills it's the start to something fun
never gonna be worth much thou
worth maybe the sum of it's parts, usually $0.50 cents on the $1

a lil' stiffening, a lil' traction aides,
an 8.750 narrowed at min.
gears, cage/roll-bar,
ladders or 4 link & coil-overs,
panhard bar or watts linkage,
a spool, locker or limited-slip min.
different wheels/tires
maybe an alum. bed cover
lil' fabbed up wing off the tailgate
easy to do/fab in the back of a truck bed
big ol' 10.5 to 12W-14" x 29-32" slicks/drag radials
maybe a 6bbl or ol' S/S scoop
change the color :poke:
could be fast & fun even
even with a mild 440, getting it down lower would be cool too

I almost did all that to a 97 Dakota blown-up sixbanger
wanted a ol' P/S truck 'look alike' clone/streetable

This is interesting. A streetable wheely machine.

Needs a small block. The 440 weight is a killer.
alum. head, pump & intake, headers etc.
it's about the same as an iron SBM
put the battery, fuel cell
anything you can behind the cab
or farther back, the better
you'd be really surprised
a lower rear stance would help some too

just need to know how to get the weight tranfer properly

IDK about truck axles but the IRS unit in the Conquest/Starion can hold up well behind a V8.
