this may not be the correct place to make this post if so I apologize. administrator delete if inappropriate. several months ago I posted transmission kickdown linkage for a couple different mopars and people wrote to me for them. I offered them at low pprice because I felt they should be used and I dont gouge others in the restoration of these cars. one paid -no problem- I sent the other to a "buyer" in California with a note if it works send the $$. I even paid postage, never got a response or $$ from that person nor recall their name.
I'd even have been OK GIVING the linkage to the person if they paid postage. nothing....
Mopar people -please don't act like GM people, just sayin.

That is the last thing I would think would happen on this site or with anyone in the hobby. I guess I am too old fashioned and because of that fact I too have been taken advantage of. Didn't used to be like that. Back in the day I traded and bought parts through Hemmings magazine and would have never given it a thought. Sad deal I hope they man up.

Time and time again you will run into such people. Some thrive on the thought that they cheated another out of a few bucks. It has happened here on this site the other internet sites.I'd just let it go(and have) and seldom post anything for sale.Better to do local swap meets with cash in hand.Sorry for your loss.

Trust, but verify! For the items I have sold on this site, the buyers have paid with paypal BEFORE I send the item, and same for when I have bought an item, I pay for the item and shipping with paypal BEFORE they send. There is also a functionality on this site to rate people you have dealt with so that if someone does this kind of crap, they only get away with it once and probably lose their access to this site. The moderators seem to do a good job dealing with this stuff the few times it comes up, but on your end, you are responsible to at least provide a username for who you were dealing with and report that user.

I get it that it should not have to be that way and a persons word should be good enough, but that is not how it is unfortunately.

I agree- I am 75 and the people of our generation knew your word was the most important thing we had, never in it for the $$ ,but as friends helping friends.

Bart- I continue to trust- it bites many times but I refuse to give up on people. I've been involved in Mopars since I bought a '63 Plymouth SS 426 new and found the mopar family to be the best. I raced my '62 Dart clone ramcharger in nostalgia racing in the late 90's I beat a 100 point 409 Chev SS by a full second, -we talked after a while he noted how the mopar community were together as friend and family and GM people were suspect of each other- he said he had built the wrong car- should have built a Mopar.

I look at members post areas before doing business, if they post 100% in the for sale threads then they're not one of us and I will not ship without cash in hand.... happened to me once. People who participate regularly on board have a reputation to uphold and more often than not are here for the right reasons. Sorry to hear you found one of the mooches.

Well I love seeing people even older than I am (61) still in this hobby. Gives me hope lol. And you are right I was involved in GM (vettes to be exact) the most stuck up fonz-a-noons I ever been with. (No offence meant or implied to anyone) But not a crowd I would ever be with again. The Ford camp were always pretty good too. But far and beyond Mopar Nation seem to be the best. The exception being the Rapid city group. I attended one of their shows and was treated like I had the clap. Never went back.

Geri your generosity Is a breath of fresh air. Seeing the worst in people on a daily basis I can speak from experience. I'm sure your generosity is repaid in many shapes and forms in your life. Continue to be the example man.

if I remembered who it was I'd name him. all I remember it was a california based '64 Dodge B body with a 68 or later engine and trans. I generally don't take the $$ till the part is proven to be needed. even if it is not used I expected t o be paid for shipping, it isn't the end of the world but just irks me.

Sorry lol, my wife hates it when I refer to her as "man" too.

I agree on what you say- beings I live in BF Missouri, swap meets are few and far between.

agreed- I waited over 4 months for a note from him or a check in the mail, then forgotabout it, only recently it has come to my mind and needed to vent- it's over' no grudges here- that takes to much energy. if you'd all like to kick in $$ to help fund my nitro I'll take it, lol
(kidding)
still running a dragster with a 60 year old 392 hemi -it only gets better.

Funny about where you came from (GM, Vettes). I also came from the same place, and while there are some good Vette people, there are many a-holes as well. A best buddy of mine for 20 years is a Vette guy, and he is the salt of the earth. He was a diesel mechanic by trade (retired now) and does all his own mechanical work as well as work for many other Vette owners who want things done right. He only works on the older stuff and is a real perfectionist! The problem is the guys with a bunch of money that buy their way in with an already restored older Vette or a brand new one with some plastic blonde on their arm. I would not mind having another Vette perhaps, but what I love about the Mopars is that they are sooooo unique!

Geri, you are unique too! A 75 year-old Mopar babe still in to racing! How the hell cool is that! You are my kind of girl! I am glad you did not let the bad experience change your positive outlook on life! Karma is a bitch, and that a-hole will get his comeuppance one way or the other if it has not already happened!

I picked up a set of HP manifolds from FBBO and before I sent the Money the seller said he had already mailed them. The price was great $180.00 and when the fella said he mailed them I thought it sounded too good to be true. I sent the money and figured I could afford to loose the money if it was a scam. They showed up and were in great shape. The guy turned out to be solid and I guess I should be more trusting but there are are always those who want to take advantage of people.

Mopar parts at swap meets are even fewer and farther between in Missouri. I refuse to spend hard earned money sight unseen on used stuff.

I once sold a set of Indy heads on another board. We agreed on a price and shipping based on the shipper's website quoter. Well, when I went to ship, the pricing was more, and insurance was extra due to the value (much more than my sell price). I paid the up charges, thinking a) if it were me, I'd want that coverage and b) being they were not cheap, and going to another builder for thousands in more work, he'd be ok with the extra $100 or so. But, the Douche argued I should have known and my shipping was high. Never mind I had the reciepts on the shipment - like I pull the actual cost at the counter out of my ***. I got boned. He's still a cheap, selfish, exploitive douchebag and I'll never change from that position.
