U-Clip or E-Clip for E-brake lever????

The brake restoration kits come with the U-clip, but i have seen E-clip and a washer used as well. I have no idea what was originally used.

What is the recommendation here for the clips that hold the e-brake lever to the brake shoes?

Here are both shown below, I would need a slightly larger washer for the E-clip.

the u clip is the original design.its not there is a lot of stress there,so either will work.e clip idea is just a newer and easyer install.
