Unleaded or diesel?

Speaking of diesel,. When I was a geologist on a drilling rig all the roughnecks filled their trucks with off-road diesel we used for the rig engines.

Is that the same as farm diesel that's red ?
Here it is 40 cents cheaper than green ( highway ) diesel but the state DOT bastages have sniffers that can tell if your running farm diesel on the highway and they will bust your a$$

There is no way that they all got delivered by one driver, or that multiple drivers all screwed up.
This means at the end of the pipeline, at the junction where the trucks all go to fill from the huge tanks, one of those tanks got filled with the wrong stuff.
Some pipeline that was supposed to get switched over either did not or someone routed it to the wrong storage.

20+ stations is a lot.
Whoever routed that pipeline to fill the main depot storage with the wrong stuff is going to discover what "expensive mistake" can really mean.

I dealt with a variation on this theme involving a delivery. Regular receiver was off sick. Substitute guy hooked a connector pipe to an incorrect storage tank inside the plant. Highly flammable product overflowed and ran into the street, where it was ignited by the exhaust pipe of a passing car. Driver and the receiver were burned alive. I dealt with the litigation for years after my corporate job ended. When people ask me if I miss my former career, my answer is an emphatic "no."
