Factory option eh? What would the code be and the price for this rare option? Got any proof of your claim?

Factory option eh? What would the code be and the price for this rare option? Got any proof of your claim? Hi, sorry I don't have any facts to back it up with. Only from what I have been told from so-called people in the know and from some owners i know that have them. Some have stated that they were only available on 4 speed cars. I have never seen many at car shows....

Laos, there are 2 of them on Ebay and they want A LOT MORE for them but they may have been sand blasted and painted on the inside.

Talk about inflation! I paid $10.00 for just the lid at Mopar Nationals about 35 years ago. These are more commonly seen on Big Block A-bodies. A September, 1966 engineering paper I have on the new R/T and GTX suggests the unsilenced air cleaner would go on 4-speed cars, while the automatic cars would receive the silenced one. In actual practice, I think it depended on what was in the parts box the day the car came down the line. I do not believe there was ever an option code or price for it. 1968 lid had the vent nipple; '67 did not . The 1968 base had large opening for Carter AVS, while the 1967 piece had a smaller opening for the AFB. I have one on my 1967 R/T.

Yes ......that was 35 years ago. The cleaner is now at least 55 years old. Yes, it was meant to be the option included on 4 s[eed cars. It turns out it did make it on some auto's though depending on what was in stock that day it was built. This is not an A Body Forum so I decided not to include the DART GTS. Did you check out the prices they have on ebay for two of them ......I guess that must be because they are so hard to find now. I haven't seen any for sale other than those two online ! I own 4 '67 GTX 's (with 2 more arriving in a couple of months) and one '67 R/T - most in some project stage. Hopefully, this post will help someone working on their own project !

More proof of climate change (not). Clean air is expensive nowadays iffin you want clean air. Still, it sucks..

@Dave6T4 can you post a photo of this paper on the aircleaners?

I’ve heard the stories and never seen any proof. would like to learn more about this “mystery” part.

I have never seen one of these on a B body. I have 2 4 speed cars, both came with the normal air cleaner. I know history and original owners. Both were always left original.

Show us some pictures of those GTXs, please. The RT too.

That’s from a car magazine. Car magazine print wrong things every month. I’d like to see some Chrysler corp papers about this.

Now the page from the data book is nice, but wrong info. Not one brochure photo for a B-body shows and unsilenced air cleaner.

There was a big to-do about this on moparts years ago. Nobody could show anything to back up the claims.

Ok I can do it later. Most are in storage right now because winter has started where i live.... Our normal winter temps get down to 30 - 35 Below without windshield.....

Glad the mods are letting this education session go forward. Hopefully they can change this to a tech thread and Dan can restart a dedicated For Sale thread again! LOL

At least I know I have the correct one on my '67 Formula S, other than the pie plate is wrong stating Super Commando and it should just be Commando like it hasn't been shaved!

This is all original and was off a 67 383 Formula S automatic....

I have both air cleaners ….. and it’s my belief the 440 came unsilenced

WTF guys! If you keep your trap shut, the seller will figure out what is going on when no one is interested. You all know that comments are not allowed in sale threads and this is a perfect example why they aren't.
