Man, That's one cool looking old Dodge there, looks like its in real decent shape to!

That is a nice looking Dodge with a Red Ram Hemi but not a 392, maybe a 241. That's going to be an expensive toy to fire up when he gets fired up.

I agree with Redhorse.

The '53 & '54 Dodges had 241" Red Ram Hemi's. In '55 the Red Ram went to 270". They increased the size again in '56 up to 315 cubic inches for Dodge.

I'm NOT an expert at all on these, but as I understand it a 392 hemi was never offered in a Dodge, only in Chrysler's and Imperial's. To me it looks like this Coronet is a '54 or possibly a '55, so it would have a 241" or a 270" Red Ram hemi under the hood. Good luck with it, still a cool old engine to have.

After looking at it some more, I changed my mind, it is a 1953 Coronet. So it would have a 241 Red Ram Hemi engine as Redhorse719 originally stated.

Really? I think the 50's Mopars were some of the ugliest cars ever manufactured. '64-71 was definitely the golden years for Dodge styling.

Also, I agree that the engine is not a 392. It would however, make a good boat anchor.

The early dodge and Desoto hemi engines are really popular with the rat rod crowd... less of a boat anchor than a 318 poly.....

parts for them "little" {heavy} early Hemi's are hard to find & can be very expensive to have custom stuff done,
the latter 354 & 392 are still great engines, make for great "Hot Rod"
&/or combos Vintage/Nostalgic racecars, NASCAR & Drags

some stuff still produced & available too, much better than the old stuff ever was

good source, some great background information & parts;
