383 eng i bought a new coil the msd master blaster 2 chrome coil oiled filled should this be mounted vertical or flat? adding this to new point system distributor. thanks

I think it can be mounted either way, but it is better to mount vertically.

AR Engineering has one that allows you to mount them vertically Here is mine, you can get them at Mancini or Summit

got my coil re locator from AR Engineering as well. not vertical or horizontal, but slanted position. Was told to mount vertically (for warranty purpose)

MSD 8222 epoxy filled, mount it anyway you like, stays cool too.

Lol. I had the same question. The "official" answer from MSD is vertical. The truth is that the stock coil, aftermarket coils (like Petronix) and other similarly oil filled coils have been/are mounted horizontally, including the MSD Blaster coil. So if you can mount it vertically, do so, if you want to mount it horizontally like the stock coil, many have with no leakage or problems, but a few have leaked. I was advised by Don at FBO against the epoxy filled coil due to heat build up, but a previous poster said his runs cool. My Petronix Flamethrower coil I got from Don is oil filled and mounted in the stock bracket horizontally.
