Upper steering shaft bearing

I am restoring the steering column and there is a bearing at the top of the shaft. It seems to be working fine. Can I just grease it? If not a good idea, how does it come out. Looks like there might be a clip holding it in,

They rarely go bad, I mean rarely.

Ok, it only had 89k miles on the car so not really a lot of use and no corrosion. I might just ad a little grease and put back together. Thanks,,,
