use of blinkers(indicators)

Turn signals go back as far as 1939 but didn't become a standard feature in most cars until the mid 50's and was mandated in 65 by the fed....and for tailgaters, I'll start playing with my turn signals, flashers and sometimes just enough brake to turn on the lights but will usually slowly start slowing down but these days, I will usually just change lanes to get away from the idiots. Just never know who is going to pull out a pea shooter and start making holes in your vehicle so I try not to give them a reason to shoot....but these idiots don't need a reason to shoot.
Yeah – I think more about some skank having a weapon going nuts to start shooting; we hear this more today. Lectured my wife and daughters on this too. Too many road wars in my past.

This is also one of my biggest pet peeves, as I am on the road daily. Also people that rush up in the right lane, so they can block cars trying to get on the highway. There’s very little courtesy on the roads any more.
When my kids were learning to drive, they’d ask me “why people aren’t use their blinkers” ? I told them that were optional on some cars!

Since we’re on the topic (yeah tail gators also bug the piss outta me) it is people who dart in front on the X-way and then hit the brakes to hit their exit at the last second. Nope, can’t merge behind me to make the exit even when there’s nobody within an 8th mile behind. And this is a bitch when driving a sizable truck as I did twice to FL moving one of my kids there and then back. Try to keep a safe distance ahead knowing I’m not gonna be able to stop like I’m in car with a condo load of stuff in the back. Someone darts in front then I’d back off to keep a safe distance…then another dipshit darts in again.

I gained an appreciation for what truckers deal with. Lol, if I were a judge the sentence I’d give out is requiring these dips to drive a truck for 30 days. On 2nd thought, maybe not a good idea..

I've always expected this from civilians in cars, when I was young it was old people who started driving when traffic was light and signals a novelty, now crosses all age groups. As a truck driver, I'm sad to see "professionals" driving 18-wheelers, and not using turn signals. Happened multiple times on my last trip across I-80 two days ago. Time to hang it up.

As another trucker I have seen the slow decline in common courtesy and professionalism over the years in the trucking industry, the public is as stated a travesty now days..

Another one that cheeses me off is when truckers are pulling hills and just creeping up and don't turn their 4ways on to give warning to the public and other truckers that they are moving slowly. I constantly get on the radio and ask these guys if they only have a certain amount of flashes they are allowed to use that day, or maybe they get a bonus from their company if they can show that they only used their flashers a few times during the day, or if there are a few trucks pulling the hill I'll say " Hey don't worry guys I'll turn on my 4 ways for all of us...don't you guys worry about it."

For many years now, I got into the habit of checking the driver behind me regularly in the rear view to try to ascertain their level their level of attention. As a result, I have gotten into the habit of rolling down my window, even in freezing weather, & physically pointing to the left for a left turn or over the roof if making a right turn in addition of putting on the blinker well ahead of my turn. Sometimes I even pump my brakes several times to get their attention; even to level of a fake panic stop to scare them back into reality. If after all this, I get rear ended anyway; and I am still able, I would get out and casually smash the the tailgaters window, reach in and grab them by the throat and try to prevent them from breathing, so they can't drive like an A-Hole anymore! Then, because I am trained, I might begin CPR, but maybe not!

Living here in Lincoln NE, just off I-80. It seems at least once a week, there is a big drug bust on the Interstate. The most often seen reason for being stopped-is for not signaling lane changes. Most of the time, it seems like people from California are the runners. I just wonder what is going thru their head, when they get stopped and arrested in the hick state of Nebraska. Do any of you other people that live in states that I-80 goes thru, hear the same thing? Surely Nebraska can't be the only state arresting all of these people!

I'm in Mexico. I use blinkers all the time without exception: private drives, parking lots, and everywhere in town and on the highway: lane changes, turning right or left, any turning movement whatsoever. Let's just say no one else around here is as conscientious with their turn signals as I am (former CHP officer and private driver's training instructor).

Cranky...I bet you and I and some others here still remember the use of our hand/arm signals that were first used to indicate intentions!!! For the rest of youzzzz, well do ya??? cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:
I followed one of those idiots for miles in November. Wonder what the fine is for an improper signal.

Some of your compadre are the worst offenders. Monkey see, monkey do

As everyone here has verified, it's a global blinker fluid shortage. It has even reached down under apparently. Since the last blinker refinery in the US was shut down in Newark by the EPA, our supply is dependent from offshore providers. Not even the Blinkie XL pipeline will save us, (too many Saskatchewan Spotted Salamanders were at risk). One only needs to look at our ports to see they are blocked up tighter than a constipated crocodile.
Rest assured, help has been promised! Although it will be above $12 per gallon once the supply chain is restored.
On a brighter note, the black market supply seems to be alive and well. Rocco shows up every other week saying I need to buy another gallon.

I've pulled beside people at lights/stops that I've been following and they have not been using there signals and say, "Hey Nice (vehicle) are turn signals optional on that thing?" usually they say no...so I respond with "Then how about you fragging use them!" Most of the time they are less then impressed with me...:D

I would not try that in the lower 48. We never know who is just waiting for an excuse to do something very stupid.
