Ordered a few items from Detroit Muscle, it was shipped USPS Priority Mail with tracking. No longer 2 days but about 5-6 days. To futher add to the adventure, it gets to the last Post Office before mine, 18 miles from me and now it's in San Juan.

5-6 days.....luxury. :poke:
:D

Try 7 weeks to the day where it used to take 5 days with Summit. And it still shows as being in transit after 3 months.

Ordered $1000 worth of carbon fiber seats from PROCAR for the '74 prostreet challenger, 5 Months Ago and they were supposed to get here on March 27th. Missed 3 big shows because the car has no seats! Called and complained a month ago and they said that there were heavy production delays and my seats would come at the end of June...
Hope they get here on time because I need to get it to Carlisle and will be driving it the hour up there. If not I will put some 40+ year old prostock seats in it that are from my parts hoard and ride in discomfort.

Montgomery Alabama, to San Juan Portico in a day. Now 3 more days and it's still down there. Look for yourself, tracking number 9400111899560691810770

I ordered a 5V Regulator on eBag over a week ago....it shows as having arrived twice in New Zealand....4 days apart. Maybe it went to Australia on a little jaunt before returning here?

If I remember correctly a little while back they were looking for a bailout.

We the People have been bailing out the USPS for decades.
I never understood why I can mail a letter from NC to NJ and it gets there in 2 days but the same letter mailed across town takes a week.

That's because it doesn't go straight from your mailbox to theirs, nor from your mailbox to your post office to your neighbor. It goes from your mailbox to your PO. If their are any other POs on the route from your PO to the bulk mail center it goes on the truck, stops at those POs-stays on the truck-then to the bulk mail center to be put on the truck to gonback to your PO to be sorted again and then on the truck to the house across the street.
It's called "make work", aka "job security".

Our tax dollars hard at work.

I'm fed up with fed ex. They sent me a text saturday morning, saying i had to sign for a package being delivered that day. I stayed home all day. Making sure to be within earshot of the door bell. Still not here, and the site says, delivery pending.

I have seen the warning that USPS is running behind because of the Coronet Virus.

FedEx used to be very accurate as to when they were making a delivery. We have had 3 times in the last 2 weeks where they have postponed the delivery date the day of the original scheduled one. All 3 carriers have a lot of work to do imo. Look how long it is taking for a standard letter to get from you to me, should be a 2 day trip.

FedEx is all franchises, at least in this part of the country. You get what you get and sometimes,
it ain't pretty - I've had to chastise their drivers for coming SIDEWAYS up my driveway in his little
box truck. Not kidding.
Damn near throttled him. He says "oh, you're HOME??"
Yeah assmunch, I'm here - and about to get mad.

UPS is pretty good, especially since there's a regular driver on our route out here who is conscientious
(and has pretty much mastered my road in her big brown box).
Still, they aren't the swiftest and you pay for all that union horsepower.

The USPS is actually pretty good out here - these rural routes are all done by contract and it tends to
be routes that families literally hand down from generation to generation.
We're now on the granddaughter of our original carrier from 25+ years ago and they've all been quite
friendly and helpful (the grandmother back then knew my dad retired as #6 in line in USPS HQ in
DC days...).
We have a post office built in the 30's that's an actual fallout shelter and is a gorgeous building - and
the employees do take pride in the whole experience, which is nice to see these days.

I think you may have it backwards, Jerry - it shows coming out of Montgomery today?

I'm sorry if anyone here works for the post office.
I swear they hire the laziest obnoxious people for behind the counter.
At least in my town.God forbid if you have the audacity to ask a question.

....odd, I thought DMT dumped USPS for UPS?

I bought a power seat frame from a FBBO member a while ago. It had to come from Fenton, MI., about 4 hour drive away. It took 5 weeks to get here! 4 weeks to get to International Distribution in Chicago! Logic would have me thinking it would come across the border at Port Huron, but no. This terrible service only cost me $150US. The upside is that USPS did not slap an additional brokerage charge on shipment, as FedEx or UPS would. Because of border closure, I can no longer use my package drop service for US shipments in Port Huron, an hour away. Last Thursday, I ordered a part through Amazon. It had to come from California. I got it yesterday at noon. Free shipping, because we have Amazon Prime.

It wasn't the last I looked at it. It made a good detour out of Montgomery to San Juan and originated in Michigan. It's possibly back in Montgomery. It's more traveled than the car I need the parts for.

USPS story:

Sent a certified letter 56 miles away (cashiers check). It took 35 days to arrive. That's 1.6 miles a day. I could have walked it there with time to spare.

USPS is now officially the worst way to send anything.
