Vacuum connection

'68 charger with 383, factory A/C, with mild cam, hyd lifters, and Edelbrock 1406.

If I use the vacuum connection for headlights on intake to measure vacuum, would I get the same readings as connecting to the vacuum for distributor for adjusting the carb?

The hose for the vacuum gauge is too large for the distributor vacuum on my cheap meter and I want to keep connections and lines to a minimum.

Yes, it will be the same. The smaller fitting for the headlights may slightly slow the gauge reaction time.
