VIN/Body Plate help

My '79 Cordoba according to the stamp on the door drivers door latch area indicating Made in Canada; coincides with my VIN# SS22 K9R 248685 also indicating the car was built in Windsor, Canada. However the data plate on the inner fender indicates it was built for "U" meaning USA. Did Chrysler build there and ship back often? Body Code Plate:

Did Chrysler build there and ship back often?

Yes. Lots of cars built for sale in the US were built at the Windsor plant.

As far as I know, all Cordobas were built in Canada. There weren't any US built models. (Same goes for the new Challenger.) So your body plate is quite normal.
