If someone wants to do it for themselves and didn't tell anyone about it....I wouldn't know to care or to be annoyed by it. When they take it to a car show or post it on a web forum, they are obviously looking for a reaction from people. Be prepared to get some backlash on it.
If the car was built with an engine that is grossly inferior or extremely expensive compared to other readily available engines, I could understand. This isn't Cuba though. Availability is quite good here.
