I have a 77 Monaco Cop car 440 ac 100 amp alt . I have lined up the alternator, ac pully and the crank gooves. The problem is the water pump snout is too short. I tried to shim the pully with washers and super glue but it's not the right fix. Does anybody know if there are different length pumps ? We're only talking about a 1/4 inch here. But the belt and pump make a bad annoying noise. Thanks

I'm guessing you replaced the pump? Did the pulley work w the other pump? I think its waaaay more likely you have a pulley off another motor rather than a water pump w an incorrect shaft.

No this is the way I got it. I think it's the original pulley. I really don't know how many different pulleys they had. The ps pump lines up with the crank pulley. The wp pulley has two grooves. One for crank and ps the other for crank and air pump. which is long gone. this car did not have the lean burn set up from the factory. Well I guess I will pull the damper in a little and see if I can juggle the other pulleys around a little.

I have the alternator, ac, and power steering all lined up. The water pump is 3 1/8 " tall when off the engine. I need either a taller pump or a different pulley. When you place the pulley face down it measures 1 7/8 tall. It is a two groove pulley. p/n 36919 17 The 17 is larger type than the other numbers I would think I have the wrong puley too. I tried to glue washer to the back of the bolt holes but it doesn't work very well. This could be the wrong pulley as I didn't put this engine together.

Any alignment problem is with the mixed/incorrect pulley, not the pump, they are all the same height.

I have not seen or used any myself, but there are special waterpump spacers that you can buy to fix your problem.

Recently I was in a hurry to get a new water pump on my 440 and when reinstalled things didn't match up perfectly let alone the fan wouldn't turn? Closer examination showed the shaft length on the nose was off a tad and the factory fan bolts went deep enough to hit the face of the nose of the pump casting preventing it from turning, so had to put several washers on each bolt so they would clear. Used the car for two events near by. Had the original pump rebuilt and when I took the aftermarket pump off the car and compared the height of the unit, shaft and casting together, both off a bit, made up for the center pulley being off and misaligned. End of day the aftermarket part was a piece of crap sold by a nation chain. Did they care? No.
