...but we get our Tule fog. Been socked in for 3 days straight now. It might clear for a few hours in the late afternoon but it's been pretty bad at night and in the mornings. At times you can't see much past the front of the car...makes for dangerous driving. Wet, cold, and gray all day.
And with all the cool astronomy stuff happening--can't see jacksquat.
@5.7 hemi you ain't missing a thing being out of the valley!

Pulling into work this morning...at least the new LED floods are visible. They were about 100 feet away.

Could barely see the top of the crane that was lifting our switchgear..

It is regional too.
I went to the dump yesterday. At home, it was as clear as can be. The closer I got to the dump, it got overcast then totally foggy.
The fog is a pisser. What a mood killer! To me, if it is going to be overcast, let it RAIN then clear out again. Day after day of fog just sucks!

Fog is Racist... We need to ban it.... As I was told years ago, it's "Indian Fog" Apache here & Apache there.......

Doing crane pics in dense fog......no osha violations there. Do all your safety signs not mention safety?

Lift plans filed with city and the FAA (this being within jurisdiction of an airport)...
We use a professional crane company for all our heavy lifts. If there were safety concerns for them they wouldn't have done the job.... we could see just fine to do what we had to do.

yes that look very clear... you said it your self "could barely see the top of the crane that was lifting our switch gear" so which is it ? safe or not safe? Looks unsafe to me...but im not working on that job site. Good luck with that

Obviously it wasn't 'very clear'....we had enough visibility to get it done.
Dang why am I arguing with you. You're probably one of those guys that demands ear plugs to use a cordless drill...

My neighbor is an OSHA coordinator for a major power company... When he & his family first moved in there was a tree out front of his house that had needed trimming for years... First he started with a powered pole saw... Then he used the pole saw on a 12 ft A frame style ladder.... Then he started using a 20' extension ladder and finally he parked his 4x4 pickup under the tree, set the extension ladder in the bed & used his pole saw from the top of the ladder.... No harness, no nothing.... People talk safety but when a job needs done people do what needs to be done... Nobody wants anyone hurt but this nation didn't get built by whiners.... Man up & do the job... Or stay home & wait for your UBI check.... Which in my world will never arrive....

We don't get fog here. We get low clouds. Kind of the same but with less visibility in the high areas whereas fog settles in the low spots.

when I lived in Rancho Murieta, east Sac. Co.
we got it there bad sometimes, thick land fog
ground temps were higher than the air
one of the many "alleged causes"
(sort of like the same stuff in Alaska)
not so much up here, in the mountains
it's more in the low hanging clouds category
but when it is up here, it's thick thank goodness we don't get it much
it's like the tule fog in Antioch Ca. was
along hwy-4 & 160 river-road, the delta area
also, the I-5 corridor can be really bad/dangerous
