Western Digital (WD) MyCloud problems

Looking for any brilliant ideas as to how to retrieve my data from a WD MyCloud 2TB device that has slowed to a snail's pace on me.

Currently have the unit at a PC Data recovery shop....but I wonder if they actually know what they're doing now - it's been three weeks, and they claim to be getting some more software to crack the disk.....jargon for stalling me thinks.

If anyone has experienced this type of issue recently - please post up here or message me.

I know that @MarPar had a similar experience and wasn't able to retrieve his data either.

Any help appreciated. :thumbsup:


.... oh, and WD stopped support in the last few months from what I can gather. :rolleyes:

I have a good buddy that has made a good living playing with computer systems administration for years, I sent him a link...

His comments went something like this...

That depends on what’s wrong with it.
I know people in the data recovery business. It’s high tech science.
Good companies like drive savers can do amazing things.
But they’re going to charge an arm and a leg for their highly specialized skills
All of my data is backed up to the cloud all physical devices should be disposable.
