That is the voltage limiter. Its to reduce voltage for the fuel sender and the temperature sender to 5 volts.

If both gauges work then no need to change it.

The ‘relay’ is the volatage limiter. The capacitor is a capacitor. Time to break out your multimeter and start figuring out what’s not working. The voltage limiter proves the power to the gauge. The rest is from sending units. Which side of the gauge doesn’t work?

Both sides the only light that lights up is the right blinker

The capacitor was only required to mute the Make/Break Contacts within the voltage limiter,
as a slight voltage spike may cause some audible interference on the AM radio...

Well, depending if burns up with points open or closed. Althought tipically should fail with points closed since is its natural position.

If you have the cluster out, I'd replace the original mechanical limiter with a solid state one. Not that expensive. If the original one fails it can burn up your oil, temp and gas gauges. Here's where to get it.. MOPAR Products

Agree with all above i just went through this with mine i didn't replace the voltage regulator when i done my dash and boy i should have as it's not easy once the dash is in replace replace replace with a solid state unit my 2 cents

Curious. That looks like a Chinese replacement circuit board was everything working before that was put in or have new issues popped up after installing that?

How would I troubleshoot my gauges to check if they are.

Just to let you know how it works the VL



Although this is not the kind to be inserted into a PCB like the one on your car but wired, the science is the same, just different prongs disposition

Gauges… feed them at studs with any DC source between 1.5 to 5 volts, (battery, phone charger) The needle should move.
