Greetings Everyone,

First off, I'm crazy and "crazy" has worked out pretty well so far.

I'm converting a 69 Charger into a convertible and want to identify all the structural differences in b body hard tops vs. convertibles. So far the A Pillars are different and the "Verts" also have front and rear torque boxes installed... (I'm pretty sure) I'll also be adding in frame connectors. What else am I missing before we lop off the ole' boys roof?

Thanks,
Tm

I just made my 73 charger into a 57 ford hard top Retractable...

I believe the windshield header is different also.Has provisions for the top latches. Vent window frames. Trunk springs and braces for them. There are caps on the rear wheel houses to shorten them. A frame for the pump assembly to set on. some different metal in the back side window area for the top cylinders to attach to. There are special wedges in the door jambs to help with body flex. I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting. I thought I had read somewhere the inner rockers are thicker but I could be mistaken.

So I can't tell you about key differences, but I can highly recommend subframe connectors. If I were doing that much work to create a convertible Charger, I would add them for sure...

My 67 convertible is all apart right now, and I could send you pictures of the inside to show you how it has added support where the top goes down, and I think the wheel wells will need to be shaped a little different to provide spacing for the top to fit . . .

Tons of pictures on my build if you want to look, and I could provide you any additional pictures that you need - at least while the car is stripped down . . .

Thanks con67bdere... I'd love to see all the pictures you have... feel free to send them to tjp229@gmail.com

Also, I'd lo to hear about where you'll be getting your hemi from...
Thanks,
Tim
