Hmmm, I'm not sure, but I'm sure someone will chime in here soon.

I did, however, want to applaud your use of the phrase "Doo Dad." Hahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

Okay - seems odd, they aren't the hard rubber wedges, these are hard plastic, spring loaded, fragile, won't do squat to align a hood ......

I am not stupid, they are to align the hood!! look at your hood where they meet the wedges! the hood is slanted in that area!!

Fender to hood cushion.. it can bow down on the sides, your thinking left to right, think up and down, keeps hood straight.. Think i said that right. lol

Hood alignment wedges
That is correct, on a car with a properly gaped/aligned hood to fender clearance the spring loaded wedges centers the hood while closing and controls side to side movement of the hood when closed. Without them there is enough movement in the hinges that hood to fender contact is likely to take place.

i worked at Chryslers for 33 yrs never seen them before

The thing that get me why would they be spring loaded,im thinking maybe some type of after market alarm.Im probably wrong.but that okay

Woops i took a second look and they are one peice,my bad

The contact area on the edge of the hood is angled as well, the slight spring pressure will force the wedges upward, equally on both sides, as the body normally flexes while the car is in motion, centering the hood and preventing contact with the fender. That is their purpose and they have been used on almost every mid & full sized mopar model since around 71', earlier in the case of the E-body.

They are not Do Dads. I believe the correct name is Thing a Ma Bobs. Can only be removed with a left handed wescot.

Did a little more research - even found 'em for sale on Ebay. Search for "Mopar Doohickey" and they'll come right up :icon_mrgreen: Anyway thanks, I learnt somethin' today !
