Engine bored 30 thousands over

I don't know about GMs connection but looks like mazda is concentrating on a come back.
Mazda 'very close' to a successful twin-rotor rotary engine
THANK YOU AGAIN.....the article about the Mazda twin chamber rotary engine is interesting. I remember, a few years back, where a neighbor was rebuilding a twin chamber rotary engine. It had two (2) spark plugs in the combustion chamber area, a leading plug and a trailing plug (Champion N-180B), presumably to insure complete combustion, plus a strange looking distributor. No cam, per say, just increases inlet port area, like lobe lift and port length like cam duration. The engine was complicated....each three lobe rotor had tip seals, side seals, apex side seals (all acted like spring loaded piston rings), plus rotor to output eccentric seals. The engine used lube oil, like a two stroke engine.......when running, it sounded strange. Putting it back together was complicated due to the various rotor sealing pieces...no real critical dimensions like a piston engine....
As a side bar, I thought GM was trying to adapt it (the rotary engine) to the Chevy Vega, to replace the 4 cylinder aluminum bore/block 2.3 liter engine or the other front engine rear drive compact car (can't recall the model name....Chevette Scooter ??)...1.6 liter engine....terrible car...cheap looking......JMO......
Anyway......thanks for the info about the rotary engine......

Hope it was in MPH! :D

A 'square' engine would be one that has the same bore as it's stroke......didn't you know that!!!
I totally understand: OVER SQUARE = bore dimension greater than stroke dimension. UNDER SQUARE = bore dimension less than stroke dimension. And of course, as you noted, the SQUARE engine dimensions......

I was at our local 1/8th mile track a while back and there was a guy that had an 80’s toyota Tercel with a turbo charged Mazda rotary. It was ear piercing noisy but that little SOB was running mid to lower 5’s Absolutely crazy sounding
I was overtaken one day a few years ago by a small Mitsubishi van running a Rotary engine.

Man, that thing was shifting, and noisy beyond belief. Looked to have 'young guy' rear suspension...... boing boing.
