Bent tie rod sleeve and went into the death wobble.

That converter was built for a trans brake. It’s not an over the counter job.

I've seen em cracked , but not sheared off. Maybe the BH alignment is in question

That sucks, good luck getting a good one to replace it
hope you don't have to go thru multiple converters
to find a good one that works the same or better than previous

good to read, nothing really bad happened after the fact,
except a bent tie-rod sleeve

that photo (post #8) sure looks like heat from a weld, probably on the back side

So, it sheared off at the groove that's not in the new piece! Where did the groove come from?

Post 8 is a reference post. Thats actually a gm hub.

The convertor has few hundred runs on it. Couldn't be that bad.

Is the heat discoloration from heat treating the hub snout (case hardening the surface) to prevent wear against a seal, maybe?
