I have a 73 charger with a 360 engine bored 30 over with stock pistons rpm intake edelbrock heads with a crane 272 cam edelbrock rpm intake 750 vac. holley carb, hooker headers and 2.5 exhaust ,with 323 gears and a tci trans, with a 2000 stall. car runs great but there is no get up and go coming out of the hole, but from 30 mph it will pull up to 75 with no problem before it shifts into high.what do I need more cam or more compression?

I’ve run the Crane 272/284 before. This cam does really well with a bit more compression than what you have. Your compression is in the toilet bowl. I’d bet it is 8.0-1 at best. ‘73 engines were rated at 8.9-1/8.5-1 but always species in the mid to high 7’s when I took them apart.

If you have it to rebuild the engine, use the MB-107’s or the Federal Mougal 116 slugs. Have the machinist set them at zero deck height and use a .054 gasket for a 9.5-1 ratio. A .039 gasket will get you to 9.8-1. Factor head cc calculated ratio.

That cam and weight of car can use another 500 rpm of stall. With a 26” tire, 3.55’s are the min. gear I’d run. 3.23’s are fair enough with the stock small tire size. I ran the 3.23 gears in my Duster with 215/70/14’s. It ran high 14’s with a LOT of rpm left over.
