What is Love?

I love my dogs. It is devastating when they don't live as long as I do.
There will come a time when ya get a pup thinking it more and more likely it will outlive you.

It's that special something shared between humans and between humans and animals:

That's heartbreaking. That happens a lot around here. I've stopped and had them literally climb in to my arms when I reached to pick them up. This dopey puppy was wandering around in the middle of the road at 11pm. When I stopped, he came right up to the car. I took him to the local vet the next day to have him checked out. I was going to keep him because he is a nice dog but my little male terrier kept picking fights with him. He was about 15lbs and the red dog was about 45. When I woke up to a fight at 4am I made the decision to put him in an adoption program. I hated to do it but it wasn't fair to keep him because I would have to keep him separate. I knew he'd be adopted pretty quick and I was right. He's a cool dog.

Especially if it hooks and comes out of the hole right, pure mechanical joy.
Hooks?

I like peeling out! I'm not so concerned about fast ETs, I like to slide!

Same here - I've stunned crowds at a Rod Run in to silence.

My friend with a 69 GTO and I was in my 69 Charger were lined up side by side in a Christmas parade. The streets were packed. There were two lines of muscle cars, about 30 of us. Someone started it, barked the tires. So we all did it. Some cops have no sense of humor. One of them got to Jeff in the goat and told him if he did it again he'd get kicked out of the parade. His reply was: Go ahead, I'm here for y'all. I don't need to be here. Then some clown threw a hard candy and hit my car. I stopped immediately and got out of the car looking for the idiot who did it. Someone who knows me said they ran off as soon as I stopped.

I know where a State Trooper lives. It's on the way to Lex. When I drive by his house in the Charger, I stop and burn rubber in front of it. I know how much he appreciates it because he pulled me over one night - I didn't know it was him, made me sit there for about 5 min then drove off. He asked me later why I didn't chase him and race.

What kind of dog is that?
It looks like a Beaver Hound.
Black tailed prairie dog. For some reason her tail is about half the length as normal so I call her my short tailed PD.

I'm getting that feeling these days. If I die in my sleep, it could be days before someone notices....but mine are 8 years old now and well, only had one that made it to 13. The sad part is having one alone after all these years of living other mates. Down to 2 after losing 1 several months ago.

I didn't know those made good pets. Do they dig and chew stuff in the house? What do they eat?

Yeah, they will chew and my home shows the scars of over 25 years worth of having PD's but none have ever chewed a hole anywhere. Luckily, the ones I have now are not chronic chewers....at least not on the house. Timothy hay is a main staple along with pellets that are formulated just for them but they like treats too as in just about anything humans like as treats too but, gotta keep that to a minimum. Mine love bananas but since fruits have a lot of sugar, fruits are also kept to a minimum. Here's a PD file if you want to look it over. file:///C:/Users/HPUSER~1/AppData/Local/Temp/Nutrition%20Guide.pdf It's not long so it's a fairly quick read but you'll have to copy and paste it. Have to watch what's dropped too because they are constantly foraging but that's not much of a problem since I'm here by myself now. The kids AND the wife were really pretty messy and the oldest used to 'hide' her dirty snake dishes under her bed and even found some in dirty piles of clothing in her closet. I guess she never thought anyone would go looking once the cabinets were running low...duh. Also, the PD's can smell really good and one digging at a closed door is usually a good sign there's something on the other side worth digging for such as food.

Going to meet a potential third dog to add to the family, on thursday. A malinois puppy rescue. I'm a little apprehensive.
For those who might be curious, we are now the proud owners of a malinois puppy. Within two seconds of meeting her it was like I was her long lost owner, within ten, sitting in my lap, giving kisses. There was no way she wasn't going home with me.
When I get her home to Arizona, ill get some pics and post in DOGS.

Find her a job... Malinois need something to focus on or they go nuts... DAMHIK... My boy Barron was a great dog but he focused on anything moving, in the middle of the night a car would drive down our street & he would chase moving lights inside the house.... Middle of the day, light reflects off a wristwatch... He's on it..... He'd watch the sky, see a bird then chase it's shadow....Great dog but frickin nuts.....

We have two German shedders that demand playtime at least five times a day. I'm sure she will join in.
So far I have not seen any of the insane malinois behavior, but obviously it's early days (or, more accurately day) yet.

Find her a job..

Yeah, he's got a point. Terriers can be the same way. They were bred to do a job. Hounds are more laid back and sometimes the combination of hounds and other breeds tones them down. Greyhounds in particular do not approve of a lot of 'ruckus' especially when they are napping, which they do a lot.
