This is supposedly the original carburetor to my 67 GTX that was rebuilt by someone who goes by Hemi George in California who specializes in engine and carburetor rebuilding. I got this with the car when I bought it, and it had been rebuilt, but never installed. The car currently has an Edelbrock and starts and runs excellent.

Is there any reason I should put this back on the car? If I don't do so, should I keep it with the car along with the original AC compressor (car now has a Sandin).

Is this the original carburetor? AFB. If I decide to sell the original carburetor, does it have any value?

That competition series is an edelbrock, should have number on passenger front where it bolts down.
Hemi George sells on ebay often. His prices are pretty high.

Competition Series 750 CFM......just having that on it is a dead give away that it's and aftermarket carb.

Carter manufactured the competition series carb long before edelbrock bought the design.(and, no, that is not the original carb ). The competition series was an aftermarket offering by Carter. We did quite a few of these installations back then.

Like Wiley says the Carter Competition Series carbs were designed as a performance replacement for the the factory stock AFBs and AVS carbs. The Competition series carb for the 383/340 was the 9636. The carb you have is the Carter replacement for the 440. Just curious, how is that Edelbrock working for you? The 67 manifold was fitted with the AFB which had a smaller base, narrow bolt pattern and small butterflys. Just wondering if the butterflys are opening all the way on that manifold.

Looking at the picture of that carb it appears to be an original Carter. Years ago Federal Mogul bought out Carter. The carbs after that tended to have cheaper ill fitting parts. The plates on the metering rods have standard screws which indicates that it's an original Carter. The Federal Mogul carbs had torx screws. That carried over when Edelbrock bought the design. Now Weber is the primary builder of the AVS carbs

The Edelbrock seems to be working fine. I did add an electronic choke to it and the car has an auxiliary electronic fuel pump used to prime the carb for cold starting. It is about the quickest cold starting car I have ever had including fuel injected new ones.
The J9 code on the carb I was asking about is a date code that relates to Sept. 1969 from what I have found, so it is not original.

These are on eBay for $85 to $250, the $85 one listed as for parts and the $250 one listed as remanufactured.
