First trip to the track coming this weekend in my new-to-me 64 330.

Here is the set up:

10.5:1 compression
Edelbrock Victor Heads
Lunati cam .600/.600 106lsa
dual eddy 1407's on a crossram
727 trans with 3000 stall
4.30 gears
ladder bars
competition engineering 3way adjustable shocks
Mickey thompson 315/60/15 drag radials

Car has fiberglass hood and front bumper, lexan windows, back seat delete.

Give me your best guess and I will let the winner know on Monday. No prizes, just bragging rights.

BTW...I'm definitely no expert on the track, I did have a 10 second C6 corvette (manual trans) for a while that I made some passes in though.

since we have no baseline to start with
a lot of stuff to be just assuming here
if it makes 750hp at the crank & weighs 3500#'s
it's actually capable of running 9.80-ish @ 140-ish
if all things were working properly, by those assumed numbers

IMO that 3000rpm stall converter will probably hurt it a bit,
pretty tight for a drag car trying to run the best #'s
but will be OK on the street,
not great for all-out 1/4 mile drag racing

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt & say
if the track is ok, weather/conditions are/is good
if it hooks ok (not just blowing off the DR's, walking it out a bit)
if the carbs & ignition are tuned decent
if the suspension works as it's intended to
10.80's 139-ish 1st time out, 1st full pass (maybe)
the 60ft will be off/slower, than it should be
because of the tight converter
it will directly effect the overall ET, it will still MPH well
now if you can get the drag radials & suspension to work well,
maybe a slight bit faster,
if everything works well, maybe 10.50's @130+ 1st time out
all things considered & if you can drive it properly, (no offense)
& run it out the back door, to get fuel pressures thru the traps
see if it needs more or less timing,
more or less air
more or less angle in the bars,
more or less adj. in the shocks etc. etc. etc.
lots of variables & if's to consider here

The biggest hinderance to potential performance is going to be the loose nut on the driver seat! If I finish the day with a best better than 12.50, I'll be happy, better than 12.0 and I will be over the moon. This is my first time down the track in this type of car, I expect it will be very different than my C6 Vette was. I installed AFR gauges in the header collectors on both sides last weekend, I've got the carbs humming nicely on the street (with some spirited runs), but I'll be able to make some adjustments at the strip if necessary. As far as setting up and tuning the suspension....that is all still witchcraft to me and will require a lot more research

I guess it all depends on how easy you take it@the start and how many WOT runs you get in. At a race weight of approx 3600? and that spec it should have 9 sec potential sorted, so I would hazard a guess at 10.50's>70's......we started out with our 3800lb RR with a new to the driver 700hp motor combo, ran 2 x 11.3's taking it easy as he was not sure what to expect and ended the day on a 10.56 which now is a 10.35 best after around 10 runs with some chassis tuning.

With that converter and compression, 11.20@118. This was my old 63 Dodge combo. 498, unported -1 Indys, 12.5-1, 5700 J converter, [email protected]", .660". All else the same. Lader bar, lexan, glass hood and bumper, no rear seat, stock 63 crossram, 1407 carbs, 4.10/4.56 (tried both made no change) 3450lbs. With a Turbo Action 3800 converter it went 10.60s. With a J converter it went 10.30s@128. Eventually in good air 10.1x@131. For what it's worth a friend tested a 512 motor in his 67 Belvedere last weekend. 3600lbs, 512, Pro Comp Victor knock offs, M1, 850 Holley, roughly 11-1, [email protected]" .600"solid cam. Car has Cal Tracks and hooks well.They used a 3000 conveter from the mild motor that was in the car. 11.59@114.

It was a good day. I did three runs, the first was just to feel the car out on the track, so we won't even look at that one.

The car felt really good and smooth through the runs. Pulled really hard the whole way down. For some reason, my shift light wasn't working. I'll need to dig into that this weekend. I think a low 11/high 10 is in the car once I get it fully sorted.

Wow..... I’m shocked.
My junk is a 10.75:1 451 with stealth heads, an RPM intake, A 252* flat tappet cam, Weighs in at 3870; it typically runs 11.2X at 118+.
I would have guessed that car to be somewhere in the mid 10’s and over 120 mph easily.

clearly it isn’t leaving very effectively. 1.66 in 60 isn’t where it should be, and 116 MPH seems low for a mill with Victor heads and a cross ram as well.

Good luck sorting it out. I think it’ll be faster than you’re hoping for.

My guess was close. Like I’ve been telling my buddy. Converter, converter, converter. Agree with Lemon Wedge, mph is low. We also run a 65 Belvedere with this combo; 440+.060, low rise Eddy 2x4 intake, 2 600 Eddy carbs, .557 Mopar solid, box stock Eddy rpm heads, 10-1 actual measured, 4.10, 9x28 slick, max wedge scoop, sealed, open exhaust, pump gas. The rest of the car is factory stock. No electric fan, water pump., no fancy shocks. Will run at low 11.40s in any weather. Has been 11.28@118. It runs a good 8” converter. Still very street drivable. Yours should have a lot left in it yet. Good luck.
