Hi guys!

I was looking at this charger and i was wondering what you guys think about it!
Is it worth the asking price?

Most of you don't know me but i'm from Hungary and we do not have chargers here what so ever!I had a '69 charger 4 years ago, which is most american car guys' dream, but for some reason we don't have any! It's mostly newer cars, chevys or fords and not many mopar!

I always wanted a '68 r/t with 4 speed but i can not affored whatsoever! So here i saw this '68 that needs a ton of work but doable,i think!

I just would like to get your guys opinion on this!I could get the bodywork done around 5k and paint4-k as well so it wouldn't be 30k for body and paint alone.
Thought to get Hotchkis suspension package 3 with leaf springs and everything. If i'm not gonna do any autocross and track with her do i need frame connectores, torque boxes, radiator lower frame barcket stiffener?

Read so many thinks but they contradict each other.Someone say the car handles well with factory suspension if she has frame stiffening bracket.Someone says you don't need frame connetors in you use Hotchkis parts.

Wanna use Moog parts since they cheaper and i'm on a budget but don't wanna go "cheap"and regret it!So i really wanna the best of both worlds if it's doable!

My other question is,if i wanna get a 4 speed set up how long would it take me to get everything all togheter?
Iknow it's number matching but i will keep the original trans and the floorbords are gonna be new anyway so won't cut her up.

The roof needs to be transferd with the car but i have no idea how to handle it!Any idea?

Thanks for your thoughts and taking the time to read it!Here is the car!

One more thing!IS there anyone around from here?

Thanks,

Peter

I should and i would if i could but can't.Do not have 40k for a car but could do her up bit by bit.I know it will end up costing me that much but i don't have that kinda cash! Now if i buy this at least i can fix her up as funds permit it!

Thanks for taking your time!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'd pass for that price, if I was in your shoes. One would have to question all the metal work done on the car and if the installer had the skill/experience to install it right. If not, you'd end up with an absolute mess trying to get it all right. Plus, price seems a bit high for a car that isn't much more than a skeleton in process.

Hi Propwash!

Thanks mate!Just talked to the seller and he said the floors are welded but still needs front fender, left quarter panel and pass door.Didn't mention tray panel and and sail panel which i guess rusted out if the roof is in that bad shape!

Ok i think i'll pass this one!

Thanks

caveman save your money or start with a beater that you can drive
while saving up for something good.
like cranium said ,your going to work on this project for 2 years and be sick of it after 6 months of busting your *** on it.
and have a fortune in it.
good luck

I live local to there but I'm pretty busy if you need help checking it out and get in a jam I'll do my best

Thanks guys!I take your advice and keep saving up for a running one then!

Thanks

If you take in all the pieces of metal that are new n do the math n some are installed n consider the motor has been rebuilt this guy has a little bit of money invested in this car n some of interior pieces are there i would try n negoiate with him what you think is a fair price.put it back together n drive it n replace items as you can just mt thought ive seen worst junk sold for more. I would try n have someone check it out for you to see if its true

I bought a puzzle car like that once the guy said all the parts were there!! WRONG When I was done with the build replacing the parts that were missing set me back $$$ and the car cost more than I could sell it for.

When you buy one like that, it will always end up costing more than you can sell it for. BUT, to many including me, its a labor of love, and the pride of saying I rebuilt it myself is worth so so much. So, if working on one, and spending time on it is appealing, i say negotiate a little lower price and go for it. If all you want is a running show/cruise car that you dont have to work on, go buy a new Challenger for $30K.

I'm sure that's why it's up for sale now.

----------------------------------------------------I see folks buying cars like this all the time. Id rather see the car complete but needing a total restoration because as someone said you don't really know whats missing. Id only consider this car if you or someone could actually see it and still its not worth close to what he's asking
Almost any car you properly restore and by that i mean not even a concourse restoration you never make money on. Yes it makes sense dollars and cents wise to by a running drivable car or a restored car but many of us working stiffs could never afford that. What i resent is being told save your money for a restored car. Saving 30 plus grand for any hobby car is just not practical for many folks. First off it would take years. Second when you had 30 plus in your hand, did you do everything you needed to do for your home and family? If you can swing it and afford it then in my opinion fine,if not you go with what you can afford. To myself there is a certain kind of pride and satisfaction knowing every nut and bolt on a car. While id admit id like a completely restored car and i dont question or knock anyone who buys one, some of us just cant do it.

Thanks guys!

Steve from staten island nailed it for me!Been checking the net and never seen a numbers matching driving '68 r/t under 30k!
Let's say i find one for 20k but needs lots of work, othervise it wouldn't be 20k,then i still would have to buy all the panels and parts she needs. Then would end up spending money on the restoration plus the 20k sale price!

What would you guys say it's a good price for her?If you have no other choice then what would that price be?
We have a 22$/hour labor cost here in the restoration shops and got a quote for the bodywork which was 5k maximum!
5k for paint and i would put her together.Thought to get US CAR tool frame stiffening kit for 600$,tti exhaust with x pipes ,headers and maybe hotchkis suspension package3 for 4k,interior 3k.

So the car would end up costing me 30k or so but i would pay it over time and not at once!
Believe it or not but over here in Hungary we earn like 300-400$ a month!!!So me spending 30-40k on a "hobby car" is extreme.I could get a 2 bed flatfor that!No wonder everybody thinks i'm an idiot but this is what i want and will work for it hard!

Thanks guys!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
