wheel back spacing

What is the largest backspacing on a wheel that would not cause problems with it hitting something ? I am talking A,B,C and other mopars.

There are too many variables to find the max amount ( ie:rear changed? inner wheel housing? etc). But if you measure the bs on your wheel then put it back on, then add the amount to the nearest obstruction, then subtrack 1/2 inch (Be sure and add the tire sidewall to the equation) you will be close.

Also backspace and offset are not the same thing.

So what is the difference ? I have a set of wheels that have 6" backspacing and are 7" wide, so what are my limitations ? I was thinking of selling them but want to make sure that who ever bought them that they would fit.

Backspace is difference between hub and back of rim.
Offset is difference between hub and center of rim.
Todays front wheel drive cars have alot of offset.
Our old cars, very little offset, more back spacing.
