Wheels on the Coronet?

Don't worry about resale and don't spend extra money on wheels and tires, if you are looking to sell. Wheel are a very personal choice. Some like their car presented as it rolled out of the factory, some like upgraded OEM, some like aftermarket, some like modern sized aluminum. Mine still has the hubcaps as delivered new, which makes it rarely seen and unusual. Let the new buyer decide if they want to spend more money on what they like.

Plain steel wheels belong on taxicabs and grandma cars. Or, in the garbage. Any aftermarket mag looks better, if not a styled factory wheel.

I bought my first new car in 1967, with the intent that the wheels would not stay. Therefore I took what it came with at no extra cost.

Just to update. On another thread, I found some 15x6 steelie Mopar wheels from a '76 Mopar. Painted them black today. I want to run the biggest tire I can. I don't want to overdo it on width but I'd like to fill the wheel wells with height. It came with a set of dog dish hubcaps but they aren't chrome like some are. They look like this but are painted silver. I like them with the caps or without using long chrome lug nuts. It was odd that they were painted. On the back raw side, two were silver and two were bronze. I'm all ears on tire sizes!!!

Oh BTW I got the 5 steelies and 4 hubcaps for $250. Seemed like a deal at the time.

One of my very first posts here was do you guys like black wheels? I likened it to running track in dress shoes. I've come to know it's a generational thing. I liked the look of this guy's '70.

I would run 235/70x15, at least on the rear, on a 15x6. 28"tall to fill the wheelwell, about as wide as practical on a six, though I have run a 235/60x15 on a six on the front of a 69 rr. I'd probably run a 215/70x15 on the front. 225/70x15 is the equivalent modern size to the G70x15 that was stock on a six on a 69 Sixpack car.

To me, it kinda depends on body color whether black steel wheels look right, or not. I do NOT care for the black mag wheel look that is popular now. My choice would be body color with doggie dishes.
Steve, what color is your car?

Check with your tire supplier of choice. A few years ago, I heard that 14"s are going the way of the Dodo. Might be a factor in your choices if what I was told is true. Like tire choices for the old popular 16.5's on trucks. Also I've found that reproduction tire can sometimes not be round and it cannot be balanced out. In my instance it was on two different customer cars, they supplied the tires, but both had problems. Also 14's won't fit the 11.75" disc conversions. 10.5's, no problem.
