When cars had style and women were sexy

Great photos! Thanks!

yepper...could tell what make a car was 100 yards away...could pull up along side a bowtie and tell what motor and carb was on the car by exhaust and badges.........I've been saying since the late 70's that new cars "suck"

The simple beauty of yesteryear has certainly been disrupted by engineers designers and hair stylists.

I always thought this chick was hot! Hey honey, I'm right here, see me?

I was just a kid back in the 50s but I remember that everything had more style back then. Even the cop cars were cooler.

cool pictures, one looked like down town Portland ore on Broadway.

Was born in 51 and was a car freak as far back as I can remember. Rat rods back then were called jalopies but they were runners and not built to look ratty on purpose. They were built as far as a pay check let them be and the money went into the running gear first then if there was any left, they might get a paint job and the interior was always last on the list. Guys that could afford to buy some modern iron put pipes on them and lowered the rear end along with pointed disk hubcaps. As for the girls during the 50's....really didn't pay much attention to them. If there was a cool car with a hot chick standing next to it, I looked at the car lol

Born in '68, but I remember almost all of the 70's.

Still a LOT of 60's and even 50's culture around then.

Agree about women...IMO the trouble started in the late 80's with the high waisted pleated pants and got worse in the early 90's with the loose jeans and thick belts. The final coffin nail for me was when the waist of the sundress got moved from the actual waist to under the breast. That took the "woman" shape out and let fat girls not feel fat :(

If were in style women would have been running around in their thongs 90% naked back then as well.

pretty cool stuff
I was born in 1959 & I often think I was born a decade too late,
growing up in the 60's & 70's wasn't all too bad either,
but now I'd be 65 instead, if I was born a decade earlier, so it all worked out well...LOL

57-59 cars are some of my all time favorites still to this day,
I think it's all pivotal years for the auto industry...

gotta' love them fins

I'm good, content for when I was born thou,
we had allot, but we still struggled too...

Music was hands down better in the 50's, 60's & 70's

I'm about to turn 64. Kinda sucks since I've been in some kind of construction or maintenance work most of my life and I'm feeling the wear.....

I was born in 1956 and grew up in the 60's and 70's. I always tell my sons how I loved the fact you could tell what kind of car it was going down the street in the 50's to the late 70's as they had style and they did not all look the same. I am so glad I grew up in them years and maybe thats why I have such love for the cars from the 50's to the later 70's. Ron
