Where did you and your car go today

Wife and daughter were shopping - so took my 6 year old son out for a cruise and lunch! He says 110 smells good - yes it does son, yes it does.

Wife learned that her eldest Aunt on her Dad's side passed away this morning at 96, oldest of her 13 Dutch siblings and now only 10 are still living! F-in-law is the youngest of the batch and he turns 80 this December. After making contact with her cousins and getting her Father some mailing addresses I asked her what she wanted to do and she said "lets go for a drive". SO we did ! 3.5 hours of mainly highway, 126 miles on the Bee today. Killed a few bugs! Took all wheel, axle housing and pumpkin temperature readings, as well as rad hoses, when I parked the car and they're actually lower than the Birds from it's drive last week. Both front wheel hubs are now running at 90F, rears at 104 and the pumpkin at 165F. Still making groaning noises when turning after a couple of hours of driving. Guess I'll try siphoning the fluid out and a refill with some Furd limited slip additive and fresh 80W90 and see if it helps. Sure don't wanna dig into that 55 year old '66 741.. LOL

I'm so sorry for your loss, It's family and family history and can't be replaced. The last 2 weeks I've have been giving hospice to a family friend, sucks. Beautiful wife, car and all the road your Bee can fly over are good medicine for the soul, a cleansing. Prayers sent.

I drove to my Mom's house for a visit about 5 miles from my house. I asked her to pose beside the Coronet for a photo like my relatives used to do in the good old days. Back then, most of the family snapshots were taken standing so the car was in the background. I don't know why we stopped doing that. I guess it is because cars made since the 80s are not that special anymore.

Does your family still practice this. If not, why did they stop?

Here's Mom, 81 years young. That's her Chrysler 300 in the background. 2007 if I recall correctly (IIRC).

Most family photos that I remember from the 1970's were taken because we were going somewhere, all together at the same time and possibly dressed up.

It was easy to get everyone "in frame" as we got ready to get in the car.

My wife's aunt & uncle LOVE posing with the car. Her aunt wanted to lay on the hood but, no...:D
Arrived near Deadwood, OR yesterday.

Oooooooh, 80 MPH 2 lane road.

I don't think we have those in FL.

75 on the interstate is about it.

Most I've seen on a 2 lane is 65.

IIRC TX has 75 on the back road 2 lanes with 45 through the towns.

What.. my speedometer was actually pegged right ON 80! Gotta be careful though as 30 over is Careless up here..

We burst my F'n bubble.

Forgot it was the Great White North.

Duh!

It was a small ride, just up the road to check on something to help a neighbor. But I asked the wife if she would like to go for a ride, and she said YES! First time she’s ever ridden in the Roadrunner, and the first time in quite awhile since she’s even ridden in any of our cars. Did she like the ride?......it was ok she said, “it smells like oil....Wow, this thing has a lot of power....ok, that’s enough for me”! She liked it, but she’s over the old car stuff I think, but I don’t care, I was just glad she came along for a ride. We held hands and enjoyed the ride together, and that’s all that matters to me!

Took a nice trip to LaCrosse Wisconsin today. Stopped at an Owl Sanctuary. Talked to a guy in a 66 Hemi Satellite. Had a great time.

Took Therapy for a 75 mile cruise, to work the stinky stuff into the limit slip clutches. Seem to do the trick as for the first time cranking her in the gate and then into the shop she didn't complain, unlike my bladder that didn't quite make it home!

I thought the additive would help, at least a good starting point. I had a Dakota that did the same thing. After adding the additive it never did it again. Good to hear!! Thanks for sharing!!

My wife and I went out for some retail therapy, antique hunting. Bought a couple signs for the garage.

Then stopped off for dinner, stopped to set up an oil change for Cora for Monday and picked up some milk before heading home. It was an absolutely beautiful day, the weather was perfect. Got so many thumbs up and waves from people that truly love old cars. Only strange thing was, as we were driving my wife finally confessed that she misses our old town and I mean she really wants to move back. Just finished redoing the whole house, everything in it is new, EVERYTHING. I got home and she has a neighborhood picked out!! Only 49 homes and It's usually word of mouth to buy, no agent needed. Phoned a realtor I know that lives there and I am now on a list to buy. I had a feeling in the back of my head that this might happen. May take a while, but I think she got me!!! You can't make this stuff up.....

Went down-valley to the strawberry stand.

And these are GOOD! Just picked and so sweet they taste sugared. Going to make some jam with them and some super-hot peppers. 'Fatalli' should do nicely this time.

Then turned around and went back up-valley to Lake Hennessy where the fire started.

While waiting for the pilot vehicle at 128 I heard the flagger telling whoever was listening about a green Charger R/T. His volume must've been ALL the way up.

That started a bunch of chatter & questions over the air and when we drove by all the crew waved. It was strangely like parade mode.
Got a thumbs up from excavator operator.

Lastly, I did not resist the urge so left a couple of long black stripes somewhere and the grumpies vanished in a cloud of white smoke. :D 3E92F041-31B6-4D25-9616-CDFF38C15E11.jpeg
