Where did you and your car go today

It's not fair anymore and bad things happen to good people, you're proof of that. Look at this joke!!

I'm that guy too! 8 years ago I bought my current home for $346.5k in an online bank auction. Even though it had been vacant for 3 years and was severely run down, it was tax assessed at $500k. 8 years later I'm at $950k assessed value. WTF Clark County! If I could afford a million dollar home I would have bought a million dollar home, and if you think my income has doubled in 8 years you are mistaken. There is a program for senior property tax relief but I will never qualify.

Went out to visit my son, mom, dad and a little run about.

I'm waiting another year & a half to start collecting SS, which is my full retirement age. Submit is 3 years younger than me & I think we'll have her start collecting when I do. Her her check will be much smaller & it really won't make much of a financial difference to us when she starts collecting.
Just remember her SS is tied to yours. She may be eligible for part of yours, which will make her payments larger depending on how much she is eligible for.
It worked for us, but- the big but was my wife always had part time jobs where she didn't pay a lot into the system. It basically doubled her SS benefit.

I took my Mom's old car out for about 100 miles today. I know she was in the passenger seat, enjoying the beautiful day.
Mom passed in 1993, and left me her car. It was a major project and her favorite thing, and I would have spent twice the time and money to keep it going... in her memory.

You're a good man, a better man than me and yes, she was your copilot today!

I couldn't finish my son's car after 20 years, four engines, three transmissions, and four rearends. I sent it to a friend for him to finish the last time for himself. I'd like to think he would have understood. Great story and thanks for sharing....Ulli

Wife and I drove to the next town over for the Sunday night show and shine. "440 Dart" (Terry) from A Bodies was there with his Dart as well.

Went to a "Postponed" car show

The show was advertised two weeks ago with a rain date this Saturday. It rained last Saturday. So this Friday afternoon I gave the '62 a sponge bath, dusted the interior. Got up Saturday morning to blue skies and sunshine. Not calling for any rain until after 5pm. Headed out, stopped for a splash of gas, get to the location and the sign says "Postponed". Well at least I got her out for a romp.

I've seen that car smoke and it wasn't out of those tail pipes... LOL!!

Went to the kick off of the weekly cruise in at the local VFW. "Baby Blue" was attending as well, first time I've seen the car since the sale three years ago. I was a bit sad to see most of the original patina that had survived my two periods of ownership was now gone, but I'd discussed this with the new owner at the time of the sale, and I'd told him it was now his car, and he should carry out whatever he preferred. No question in my mind that he loves the car as much as I did, and I'm thrilled have passed the torch to another GTX guy, who was able to realize his personal dream through my former car. The circle remains unbroken.

I took mine as soon as I could and Theresa is almost three years older than me. It was never about the money, it was the government telling me it's better for me to wait. If they say blue, I automatically go red. They want you to die paying in, not taking out. They have a lot of mouths to feed.
Knowing what I do about your situation through your posts on this site, I think you made a wise decision. On the advice of my doctor, and one of the top elder law attorneys in PA, I took my social security at 70. It depends on the interplay of multiple personal and financial factors, and the process is far from simple. This is a plug for using the services of a good elder law attorney for help in making the decision.

Many times, people wait to collect and for good reason. I had concerns about making it to 70 and still do, why, because I was extremely brutal to my body. People have a decision to make and you're right, it's not always easy. I know you did the right thing for you, because I know you're not stupid. I seriously respect you!!

I get to watch m7 parents house daily. Last week they torn down a 8' X16' shed my father built in 1953. They never took care of it, didn't rake the leaves around it or fixed windows or roof it. Will save them $500 a year in taxes. Will say gives us a slightly better view.
Talked to neighbor he said insurance company wanted it torn down, safely hazard. He was happy when wife reminded me to tell him about telling town that shed is gone, will save on taxes. He also cut tree limbs that were over the house, one was 10 to 12" around. Said house didn't want to insure the house unless those were done. I never had an insurance company do that. Had an insurance company pay for a tree to be cut after another tree smashed windows in my sunroom. They cancelled me when policy ran out.

Drove to work on Saturday to install a VHF radio repeater and antenna on our auxillary building.
(it's the white toothpick sticking up above the roof about dead center)
AC worked fine on the way there, but blew 80 degrees on the way home.
DANG. Compressor clutch was engaged OK.

Otherwise made it back to "Warehouse 13" without incident.

Very nice, I really like white. I've owned 9 white cars and still have one now.

White is a bonus in Florida.
White seats, too.

Five of the last six cars I've bought are white.
73 Satellite
67 wagon
80 truck
67 parts car
87 parts truck
What are the odds of that?

97 degrees yesterday and humidity is creeping up at 45%.
It will likely be 60% in a couple weeks, and 90% by July.

My first Mopar (2nd car owned) was a `70 Road Runner white. It looked so good.
