Hi,I recently joined this site. Ive been trying to find a 1968 Satellite 4 door for a daily driver and have been looking for about two years before joining this site and have posted a wanted ad and so far nothing. My question is,where did all the 4 doors go? I see two door hardtops often, but the sedans seem to have vanished off the face of the earth. Did they all get used a parts cars for roadrunner and 2 drs?
I agree the 2dr hardtops are a far more attractive body style, but the 4 doors are still cool looking and far more practical, less expensive and make better daily drivers. They are what most folks had. They are also less likely to be stolen because nobody wants them. Lol.
I live in SoCal. So they didnt all rust away out here..Just weird I cant seem to find one. I see 67 Satellites,66 coronets and all manner of other mopar sedans...no 68 or 69 satellites though,or even Dodge Coronets of those years.
Watch the old tv shows like McCloud and the streets were once flooded with them. They even used them as cabs. So where are they all hiding?

My wagon has a bunch of extra doors and a tailgate!

Try FB market place all around the USA

Ive been looking each day 20 times a day. Only thing that came up was a 68 coronet for 3,900 and it eas a daily driver with ac. Contacted the guy the second I saw the ad. Told him id come right away. Seller never replied for 4 days. Sent several messahes and it vanished.. im trying to avoid anhthing out of state. Delivery cost adds up and you cant see what youre buying in person

Keep hunting around. It took me about 1.5 years to find a decent driver quality unit. Found it on Marketplace, used my brothers login as homie don't do social media. Next month will be my 2nd year of ownership. Got it from a gent in Agoura Hills. I've perused many different venues to track one down. Craigs, FB, Classic Auto Trader, car shows/swaps, Hemmings, MCG[ Mopar Collectors Guide]. They're around, just need to spend some time looking. Even in your own backyard.

Saw this one. Looks clean. 1969 Dodge coronet

They are still around, but most have been parted out to help restore 2 doors. It crazy how expensive 4 doors have become. Many around here are in the 12-15 G's range.

I think folks with 4 door cars, or know where one's at, just don't advertise them as they don't generate much interest with car guys. They only appeal to a select few. I restored a 69 Malibu sedan a while back it will be difficult to find a buyer, even though the car is pristine. Since many were "Grandma Cars" and not ragged out, have perfect sheetmetal, and have a lot of reusable parts, the "look" just says low power, non fun machine. Keep looking and talking, they are still out there....

Thanks,I appreciate the encouragement and advice. Yeah,I dont have facebook either and hate all that stuff. Had a lady friend do it for me since shes got facebook. Sad thing is that it seems most of the cars get posted on there these days and that facebook "groups" are slowly destroying sites like these.
Nice wagon. I would be happy to find a 68-69 satellite wagon too,but like the sedan. I think since wagons are more desirable someone would be less likely to harass me about selling my 4dr or steal it.

Yep,I think youre right about that. Thats also one of the reasons I want a 4 dr. I dont want a hot rod,I want a daily driver and 4 doors are not desirable so I dont have to worry as much about someone stealing it. I also want a slant or 318 car. Everyone else wants 383's,440's,etc.
I love 318's. They get great mileage, run forever if cared for and have all the power you need to get where youre going. The slants are great too.
I know what you mean about them being hard to sell too. A guy in los angeles had a nice 69 coronet sedan with 318,ac,new interior, new front end bushings and components. He sold it for $3,900 way less than he had into it. Unfortunately I wasn't the person that ended up buying the car. It ended up selling to some guy in Sweden

I wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard that!

Clint Eastwood had a great saying. "A man's got to know his limitations" . Sadly what you said is true. If I had a dime for every time I've seen a car advertised for sale that somebody took into a million pieces and started a restoration on and then never finished and had it sitting in his garage for 15 or 20 years before his wife made him sell it I'd be a millionaire by now. It's the same thing with people that buy a nice car have all these dreams in their head of restoring it one day then it gets shoved in the backyard under a tree and rusts away. I have never done that with any car I've ever bought. I look for decent original cars, I don't care about faded paint or if the upholstery is ripped or needs some work, I worry about mechanical condition and the body being solid and drive it as I fix it.
I learned it a really young age that time goes by too quickly and I saw too many people with cars and dreams that never got accomplished.

I cut up too many good 68-69 4drs for parts, because no one wanted them.
Times changed. I have a couple of 71-73 4drs that I just can't cull, because I can't replace them.
Although my buddy sent this link..

Lets not talk about the 2drs that got chopped.

Yes,it makes me sad to think of how many of these cars were lost to become parts cars because they were "worthless".
About the only time you see a four door is if its a cop car replica. Those are neat too. Like the Adam-12 car.
I see fuselage cars still, but was never a fan of those. I like the 68-69 b body bodystyle far more.

ford guys with a bunch of mopars for sale
the search I did on eBay was worthless with guys like the POS seller: ravjudge, who pollute our searches with their keyword spamming. I found it with a google search

I forgot BAT[ Bring A Trailer] and Barn Finds. Add those to your research attempts.

My thoughts have always been that 2 doors were more popular for hotrods and thus more valuable. Due to this, people junked (junk yard) most of the 4drs. Glad I've still got my Great-grandmothers '67 Coronet 440 4dr.
