Hi,

Where do you folks look to find parts for your Mopars? Things like body panels, trim, electrical parts, etc..

I'm going to be looking for a new rear as far as I can tell. When I worked on old Vettes I had a bunch of suppliers for stuff like this...websites and catalogs, Carlisle PA in August...etc.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!!

Joel

Ironbuilt is correct. Since you're familiar with Carlisle, its THE PLACE!
The largest Mopar show in the world, approaching 3000 registered for the showfield. It is also the largest all mopar swap meet in the world. If you can't find it there, it doesn't exist.
Most of the major reproduction, NOS , and used vendors are there.
If you know the fairgrounds, the entire lower fields from the grandstands down is swap area. Trust me, you can't see it all in a day.

Auto Metal Direct (AMD) is generally considered to have the best fitting sheet metal, but be aware, 66-67 B Bodies have many fewer parts available than 68-70 B Bodies do.

Good Luck

Tommy, at Parts hound, rebuilt my wiper motor assy, made all my wiring harnesses, and is currently rebuilding a round back alternator for me. I've been happy with everything. He's extremely b body savvy !

Mega Parts is ok but by the time I found them they were out of a lot of stuff I was looking for. I'm getting a business name for you of a guy I've been dealing with and am on a first name basis. He takes a genuine interest in the cars and tells you which parts are good and the ones that are better but more $$. He has a huge selection of stuff that most dealers don't have and he's very reasonable and knowledgeable. His name is Richard O'Sheilds. He bought out Dales 'Cuda Shop. When I was getting parts for my Charger, he spent 3 hours with me on the phone going through what I would need. He also talked me out of buying certain things like the radiator support seal on the hood. He said if I still have it, just clean it up and reuse it so I did! Came out great! He was able to get stuff for me that other places couldn't find or didn't have. VERY good guy, VERY honest.

Thanks for all of the words of support from the members that have supported us and the hobby through the years. Cars have been a way of life since I was basically a baby and that has been many years ago.

There are a lots of great vendors and supporters of this hobby. The one thing that I like to stress to buyers is that they support the vendors / manufacturers who are actually developing and bringing product to the market place. It is these individuals who keeps this hobby evolving.

Covid has really impacted all areas of everyone's lives. The hobby is no different. I am sure that some things and areas of the hobby may never return. With that said, inventory levels on certain parts may never return and the possibility of releases of new products are on hold. I can only suggest that if there is a part that your actually needing, I would buy it sooner than later. Some items will most probably always be around. But some of these items have a limited life span due to the nature of the part.

This site is one of the best areas of information out there for quality. The knowledge base is huge and the willingness to help is awesome. You will get a variety of responses on some areas, but like any forum, you will be able to develop your own decision from various view points.

The Carlisle event is pretty much the premier show for any fan of the Mopars. Just like the Corvette show, it is a huge event. Stop by and check out what all we are involved with. We bring a variety of our product line filling up 3000 square feet. Our tent is located right next to Building T. Within a 100 yard radius of our tent, you have Mega Parts right next to us. Then there is ECS, Glen Ray Radiators, RT Specialties, and Stephens with all of the AMD product line.

@Joel Talka, if your able to make the Carlisle event, check out the Events Section for the members of this site get together. It is a great opportunity to network with other members.

Sorry for rambling on, but like most of us, we want this hobby and this site to continue to grow and thrive. Post your questions, concerns, etc...., it only makes everyone better and stronger.

See everyone at the shows, take care.
Richard
