Hi Mopars

Is there anyone who can tell which is the original carburetor for a 72 Dodge Charger with 318 cui / AUT / PB / PS / AC
Chargeren has been running in California

On the Production Broadcast sheet it tell CARB: 10

Right now there is mounted a 2 bbl Carter, but I have a feeling that is not the original and the question is whether it has been a Carter / Rochester / Holley or other

Hello... I will take a stab at this question... all I can reply is the number cast into the carb body on mine is 2128 - its a carter type. However, my engine has been changed but it came from a 1972 Satellite with a 318 and A/C. BUT, I cannot say with any confidence that it is correct. Usually, there is a metal tag attached to one of the bolts on top of the carb. Mine is missing.

I did a quick google search and came up with a Jeep owner who had a carter carb with the number 2425 for a 1972 Charger with 318.

I went to the www.carburetorshop.com website and searched for the listing for a 1972 318 2 bbl and found 7 different listings based on calif. emissions, export, auto or manual trans and so on. That would be a good place to start to see what carb you have based on the lists they show there.

Good luck.

Godspeed,
JON

The original carb should be a carter bbd (ball& ball) ,,, was used from 71-75 on 318 and 71 383's . Hope this helps. Good luck
