I have to decide which classic car insurance company to go with. I used Hagerty's last year. Which insurance company do you think is the best one to go with and why?

Thanks for your input

Been using JCTaylor. Inexpensive. No claim experience.

Hagerty is my choice and I am just finished with a claim. About 8,000 in repairs. They sent somone out that estimated the damage at 3,000. I preceded to take the car to a custom repair shop and their estimate was about 8,000. Hagerty sent me the check for all and the car is now better than before. Not one complaint.

So Hagerty paid the 8k right?

I used Hagerty in the past, now I use Mecum..... yes that Mecum. It's about $120/yr for $20K agreed value for my modified 65 Coronet, zero deductible. No inspections, just description and photos.

Good to know fwi , I will see if my premium goes up next year.

I use Hagerty, no claim yet but did get a tow, was very good experience, after a shot a freeze plug out the side of the block and lost all the water/coolant and pulled over. Called a tow company before calling Hagerty because I forgot about the towing service option I had, once I remembered I called them and not only did they authorize the tow with the tow company they added them to their list of locals to call for me and paid the whole thing. This all happened within 15 minutes.

They were also very sympathetic for me and the break down, they also seemed very concerned for getting me and the car home they called after I got home to make sure I made it and all was good. That kind of customer service will always get my business. we have an agreed upon amount of $25k for my car which is probably 10k more than it should be (at least until it gets painted) for $230 a year.

Check your regular carrier. I get 20k agreed coverage for $17 a month. Some restrictions, but not unreasonable. 5k a year, must be kept at home, locked garage. Car not used as daily dtiver.

I use State Farm. They are being aggressive in the classic car market. Valuations are good and I pay $225.00 per year. I tried to get a quote from Hagerty about a year ago at a car show and they sent me to a local guy who never responded after a couple tries. He was even at the show and took down all my info and looked at the car. That ticked me off.

Thanks for the input guys but I just thought of something. I understand the agreed upon value for our cars with our insurer, but lets says some nimrod runs a stop sign and T-bones me and he has ABC insurance policy. Is his insurance company that will be paying for my repair going to say, Oh well that 1973 Plymouth GTX is only worth $1000 or do they pay the "agreed upon value" also?

Hagerty. My brother just had a claim with them. $15k, no problems at all.

No, Hagerty will pay out for the damages either by estimate of if its a total loss than the agreed upon value. They then collect from the other insurance.

If any of you people are using Ameriscam Collectors, Drop them like a hot potato!!! They lie BIGTIME to your face, can't send out renewals, don't give a **** about you or your policy, and they make up the rules as they go along. DROP THEM ASAP!!!
