so I've been spending some time in the garage and tearing into this thing. both quarters has to go then the dutchmans panel, then... well you know how it goes.. rather replace it all now so i don't kick myself later. I'm at the point now where i will soon be taking it to my shop for blasting. so i will be fabbing up some caster and drop my k member and rear end.

the question is i also would like to replace the floor in the car as well. there are some rough areas that need to be addressed. also i was planning on takin out the two mid floor pieces as well, bc of the shape they are in.

Do you guys feel i am able to do this all without the car tweaking??? there is no weight on it, but i just don't need it shifting and having a huge mess on my hands.

I was thinking about doing the back of the car first, then work my way forward. but it would be nice to just blast it once, seal it then install all the new body panels.

frame is in great shape just have thin areas of sheetmetal.

heres some pics of where i am at the moment. IMG_6149.jpgIMG_6157.jpg

Yeap, that's pretty well stripped! You won't regret it, now you can be confident in what you have without the worries of thin spots popping threw.

Before I cut my rear rails and quarter skins off I put my adjustable scaffold feet on my stands and leveled the car. Then took measurements everywhere I could think of, from frame to garage floor with a plumb bob and marked the floor, from my garage walls to the car/frame, etc. I could build a car just using the marks on my floor.lol. Here is a drawing that may be handy for you.

yeah i rather go this route. then i know what I'm working with. clean slate

so after my measurements i can go ahead and cut it out? still not 100% on if I'm in the clear or not with removing the floorpans. the rear seat pans will stay in the car.

Looks like quite a project. I'm putting mine back together. Where in Illinois are you located?

Ahh, up north, LOL. I think you'll be fine taking the front floors out as long as the rear axle and front suspension is out.

is this due to the torque from the torsion bars, and the pressure from the leaf? could i jack it up and put jack stands under the frame rails and take pressure off the car? while leaving the rear end and the k member in? i will be making casters for the car next week.

The rear axle and front suspension are issues if you let them hang from the frame or hang the car on a rotisserie. All that weight starts pushing and pulling on frame rails where you have removed the top plate (sheet metal floors and trunk) and they can move all around. As far as you've torn it down, removing all that suspension only takes an hour or two.
