A buddy asked me to poll the members on what his 69 Roadrunner might be worth...

The Good... Very solid, floors are good, rails are good, roof, doors, fenders, hood, deck lid all good.. Been in Central Ca. it's whole life...

The Bad... No build sheet or fender tag... The guy who owned it before my buddy passed away & before that he had misplaced the tag, never had a sheet... It is still mostly original paint so the color is pretty apparent... The N96 cable is still in place.... Trunk floor, it's not blown up but it's crusty enough I would replace it... The back window channel needs a couple small patches, definitely not worth replacing the dutchman panel... Drivers rear quarter behind the wheel needs a patch, he has a solid original piece cut off a donor years ago...

Originally a 383-4 with a 4 Spd and an Air Grabber Hood, Bench seat....
Comes with either a NOM 383 core or a 440 core... Plus a A833, Overall a pretty complete solid project... He has seats

I can get more photos if there's something you need to see to put a value on the car..

I havent been keeping an eye on project prices But if I had to guess, Maybe something in the teens

BUT , No tag and No sheet to back the paint code up will hurt final value in a big way

IMO only

On the West Coast, I'm seeing prices between $12,500 to $17,500 in that stage without documentation. Perhaps a little more since its a California car.

Just my opinion

May be a very rare car. Petty didn't drive a Plymouth in 69. So, I would think the production numbers are low. Boy that fender tag would be great to have. As far as what it's worth, my guess
is in the high teens as is. Title is going to make the difference.

I know that I’m in the minority when it comes to placing a high value on documentation. To me, I like cars I can drive and enjoy with almost no regard for their value.
For me, a car can be a total fake and still be great. I draw the line on chicks though. They have to be a female from the start. I have no wiggle room for negotiation there.

I tend to agree.. For the sake of the hobby I'd like to see projects selling for less, for his sake I'd like someone to give him way to much money..

So, you're telling me the ladyboy's in Bangkok aren't on your bucket list...LOL..

With clean title it's a $15-$17k car. That said, projects seem to be getting harder and harder to sell. Solid ones certainly offer more potential to move, but people seem reluctant to take on the expense of a total rebuild. The only exception seems to be the 68-70 Chargers. Insanity prevails there.

Same.

I love the car that’s posted. To me, its value is the purchase cost plus how much to get it drivable, compared with my fun level while driving it, followed by endless fun tinkering.

One thing that became very clear to me in the past year is that as we might all share a passion for these cars, the level of interest in the specific aspects of the hobby are quite diverse and different.

Almost makes me feel guilty owning the two I have. Almost.

I hear what you're saying, but does it work the other way? Would you put a high value on a car with rare/desirable options or parts if there was no documentation? Or to ask it in a slightly different way, if two identical looking cars, with the same desirable features or parts were side by side, and one was fully documented and the other had none, would you consider them to be worth the same if you were looking to buy?

Neat car. I would take a ton of pictures to show what you can of the original color and apparent options. If it was mine I would try to put it back together that way. Pretty cool color.

I see your point as well, for me though…. I am not a purist that longs for a rare car. It just isn’t my style. I appreciate them but don’t care as much.
Two identical cars mechanically, one being genuine and the other being a clone? Most people probably care. I don’t. I like them for the beauty , the sounds-feel-smells and fun from driving them.

But is that what we’re talking about here?

I don't think so. I went off on a related tangent, because I believe Wild R/T's friend would likely get more for the car with a build sheet and/or fender tag. The original question was what is it worth, as it is, and my answer is, I wish I knew. I like the car, and hope the seller gets what he wants from it.

I gotta agree, a sheet and/or a tag would be nice... While cleaning out the warehouse there was an expectation it would be found... And there's still a slim chance it will turn up.... It did exist, I saw it probably ten plus years ago, but where he put it???? Who knows...

I know it was a pretty basic Roadrunner, the big options were the (99) color, the (D21) 4spd & the N96 Air Grabber...
